It would depend on an opponent. There s no such thing as a "straight" bench if u r as good and versatile as Marchi. And its not like u r bringing Messi in, Vargas is good, not great. U may disagree though.
vargas is just one option. there are others too but i am fan

I'm mad because people are talking of their ass and not looking at the bottom line:

no matter however the fuck you made it on to the pitch, your performance is what counts.

sure he is solid, but he is not great, let alone good enought to be a leader, which was what this original discussion was about.

which i don't think anyone said otherwise. but doing well or being solid are totally different than being a leader or being great.

I don't think he can fully express himself being played out of position, but what he does now is good for the team. We need a player willing to do the ugly work like he does.

one member here said that all coaches we've had love playing marchisio becuase he is a professional or flexible in his playing which is true, but one thing is also true is that he would not start ahead of melo or aquilani and if we had a true left winger (say a 31 year old nedved) he would not start on the left either.

i see marchisio as a better verison of sali for us

And Delneri and others have already spoken of him as a future captain and long term bianconero, so it's a redundant argument.

Great form, but form doesn't qualify a player as great. I don't see him as a leader either, more the quiet type who just likes to play football. Melo is also a form player. Last season he was a turd and now he is an irreplaceable part of the midfield, so what happens the next time he goes into spaz mode? Marchisio on the other hand will be here in the long term, these sort of players compliment each other in a squad.
