Ho does his job when he plays in front of the defence, but his best position is surely left central midfielder in 433, just like he played in the first season under Conte.

And Btw.... its not mystery that his best role is playing as a more defensive minded VicePirlo.

There he cannot act as casper as is always involved in plays and also is tackling whenever needed. If we force him to get involves in plays...he delivers. And he is not a Trequartista..he is better as a deep defensive midfielder

You're making it sound like he's better than he actually is by getting him involved with the play.

I have always described Marchisio as a water-carrier player, someone who can get in and do the dirty work while keeping possession and giving it to the better players. That's why Marchisio will do well sitting in front of the defense, he can put in decent tackles and keep possession. Obviously he is not talented enough to be a trequartista and never was, but he can still be very useful in this role.

Allmost agreed.

Marchisio is a rich man's watercarrier, but should be used as such. I've went on a crusade last season about him to be used as the covering player for vidal and pogba and i'm happy thats exactly what max did today.

As a trequartista, he can do the basics and play distribution, but lacks the vertical penetration a real trequartista offers. But his current position is offcourse much better suited

Also, the right central mid in his first season under conte is not a better position.

I dont think he is THAT poor as you portrait him....

But Cheeseio played as a deep lying whatever... adds to the team...unlike when played as a box to box, wide midfielder or even Treq, which in fact makes more harm than good.

Marchisio doesn't have Pirlo's passing range, but he doesn't need to, as his presence allows Vidal and Pogba more freedom to go forward. With Pirlo in the side, Vidal and Pogba's attacking tendencies are limited, as they need to cover for Pirlo's defensive deficiencies.

With Marchisio on the pitch, we are more athletic, dynamic, and can afford to play a high tempo.

This only works when you don't have teams pressing us. If a team starts pressing us in our own half then pirlo becomes crucial because of his vision and passing range which makes it easier to transition from defense to attack.

Not really. It can backfire faster than u think. Remember bayern=?.
For games like those, i prefer the workrate of cheesio. But pirlo definitvely has his days, as he is way more skilled in the build up
