No, marchisio never was scorer or playmaker, when he is at his best form he is giving a lot of problems to opponents with his movement, pressing, shorts passing , he is very good for build up play

He's arguing with the interpretation of the stats. And he's right because some of you bastards underestimate the shit out of Marchisio and the stats really don't tell the full story about him :D

Just that he chose to argue with the one who presented the stats instead of those who used them in order to prove that Marchisio sucks :p

Tbh, Marchisio's season is worse than the previous two. He's doing well in other departments, but numbers wise he must have done better. Despite not being a regular, he still played ~2800 minutes (that's 31 full matches) and 3 goals+1 assist is too little for him, even if we accept that he had more defensive duties this year compared to the pre-Pogba time.
Only 15 full games, don't count minutes , count full games

Main difference is his he has had a more defensive role this season, been used as understudy for Pirlo, or Pogba and Vidal unleashed forward. But even more important is that also his entire offensive outlet hinges on playing off the forwards flick/through passes high up when he makes runs behind the defense, or Pirlo doing passes like he did today (which he doesnt do as much of, our entire team is opposite of making runs behind defenders or passes to deep runs compared to before, mainly about the wingbacks making the runs, not the CMs who just stay high up). Essentially we are alot better for having Tevez in the attack, but its worse for midfielders with Marchisio's M.O offensively, they rarely get the ball when they make good runs behind the defense, while someone like Vucinic would allways look to pass such runs in previous season. Plus we have Llorente who takes such presence around the box, leaving less space for CMs to run into.

The main problem when this kinda approaches are shut out to him, is that some people can only notice the use he has on the pitch only when he does something offensively, rarely do they bother noticing his actual midfield work. Even if yes his overall season is a dissapointing one, even if he is a very fine player to have for rotational purposes.

That makes no sense :D

If we only count full games then we shouldn't count his goal against Cagliari because he came in as a sub.
He started 32 matches and came as a sub 9 times. These numbers are asking for better numbers regarding goals/assists from Claudio.

Marchisio - “It was an important goal, just as all of them were today. I told Andrea Pirlo on a pitch like this it’s always better to play it first time.”

If he hadn't instructed Pirlo on what to do, Pirlo would never have made such a pass.

Pirlo did mention a couple times in his book that Marchisio is a team leader.
