Obviously Marchisio is going to offer more defensively than Pirlo in that role.

What that game didn't really show, though, was how big the gap in passing ability is between Pirlo and Marchisio.

Because Samp played an open game, it was easy for Juve to move the ball quickly and relatively simple passes were getting Juve into very good situations.

I'll be interested to see Marchisio play than role in a game where Juve are facing the sort of deep, compact, numerous defence that they face at home most of the time.
Not sure about this tho.. i have seen his fair share of bad performs against those packed defenses too.

He was great, though with the only mistake he made all night we conceded a goal.
wat

the goals we conceded were a bullshit deflection by Barzagli (OG) as well as from a corner where our defenders marked poorly and lost the air duel.

are you blaming him for the 2nd goal conceded because one of his misplaced passes lead to a corner?

Yeah Marchisio definitely isn't as good of a passer as Pirlo is, nobody is really.

But i'd trade the occasional incisive 40 yard through ball for defensive solidity and his great workrate.

I'm a huge fan of Pirlo, but moving forward i'd love to see a regista-free team.

Yeah I don't blame Marchisio, too much time passed from the time he lost the ball to the actual goal.

Indeed. Blaming Marchisio for that goal, one would have to blame all players who award a corner to the other team for every corner goal conceded, which is nonsense

We conceded that goal because we didn't defend properly when the corner kick was swung in

I'm not putting the blame entirely on him, but yes he did lose the ball in a very dangerous area which lead to the goal.

He does have a good left footed long ball though. It's funny that in the last two games he has missed long passes with his stronger foot while making some really good left footed long balls connect perfectly.
