And i personally prefer us not to be considered favorite. Think what pressure that would put us on to win it. Carcrash waiting to happen.

Real schooled this fav psg. The fact they dominate in france is not good. Cause they can smash the rennes and toulouses there but then face the Reals and Barcas and fell on their asses when it matters.

You are conserving energy and conserving energy and conserving energy and conserving energy and conserving energy and then when you need to play with all your energy you have forgotten how it's done ::lol3:: Tottenham are going through imo but it's not entirely hopeless, if we show up we can beat everybody. But we won't show up, we will be scared, tired and nailed to our box like Jesus to the cross

So, Hist wants us to lose and play attacking footie to attract more fans and generate more $ so that we can lose more and continue to play attacking footie to attract more fans...

Winning isn't the primary objective but increasing fanbase is.

K, that makes sense.

Sounds like the model Arsenal deploy :D

You gotta win, play attractive football, and be in an attractive league to generate followers. We can control the first two components; the third one is beyond us.

If we win the CL playing shit football then how will we attract fans and increase revenue so we can buy a team good enough to win the CL?

This whole “play attacking football so we can attract fanboys” is one of the most revolting and disgusting things about modern football. I want us to play football that wins us trophies, could not fucking care less how we do it, or how many new-age football glory hunters we attract in the process.

That theory works. We weren't favourites for the last 2...

I'd say most of us on this forum fit in to that category pre 2000's. We bandwagoned back then and are now still loyal fans.

That's how clubs gain fans, but giving them something to bandwagon about.

Vialli wants us not to win any trophies this year so management get a wake-up call, and Allegri gets kicked to the curb for a possession+attacking coach.

Such splendid fans we have.

Imagine if we tried to be City/PSG with a quarter of the spending power.

Basically, we'd be playing an attacking game with far less quality in attack because we can't spend as much. And for that, we'd have to sacrifice defense, balance, organization - things that make us competitive and a contender in the CL despite lesser revenue. We wouldn't win any scudetti or get out of the CL groups.

Yeah, that'd generate a ton of fans lmao.

Dropping deep and giving the ball to Spurs after 15/20 mins was moronic as was not having enough balance in that lineup. Reminds me of Evra at LB and subbing Morata out vs Bayern. These are utterly ridic decisions that shouldn't happen and that cost us, but overall strategy of the club off the ptich and trying to get the most out of each individual player while being solid on the pitch are spot on.

Any news about Higuain?
"Ci saranno più rischi in fase arretrata ma anche più occasioni davanti e per questo uno come Higuain potrebbe servire, magari in fase offensiva, magari negli ultimi minuti di gara, ad oggi Higuain sembra orientato verso la panchina, ma negli ultimi minuti un Higuain potrebbe essere un asso importante da giocare."

They say he could make it to the bench and could become an important factor for the last minutes of the game.

Anyone better news?

Playing an attacking style of football doesnt necessarily means playing like City and PSG.. We can impose our type of style which is more defensive than City and PSG but still able to put pressure. For example Juve Dortmund 3-0 - We attacked but not in a PSG/City style...
When we beat Real Madrid 3-1 (when they had Zidane in their team) we werent City like yet we attacked.
We can attack in a more conservative way and never forget about defending - Actually this could be our best way as IMO we play at our best when taking this approach

winning CL for that team was great, many oldies like Drogba, Lampard and Terry truly deserved it for their effort, what happened afterwards not so much. it feels like Abramovich has relaxed once he got that trophy he wanted, no longer he wants to improve the team as much as possible to gun for the CL, their net spend has dropped ridiculously and they seem content with the odd league title every now and then

Saw something like this in the guardian comments section -

Armchair football fans viewing the game as entertainment instead of the sporting contest it actually is
