Capello knows that we do not have the calibre of players to go out and attack the whole match, so he tends to be conservative all the time. We lack a playermaker to direct the team, so that means nobody really knows how to control the match with posession and take their time with the ball. I want Capello to make the team go out there and attack, but he will probably say that we do not have the players to control the match with offensive prowess, so he rather put a team out that is "sound" defensively.

Since we do not have the players to control the match with our attack, Real wins the battle of attrition and we revert to playing defensive football. One of our players makes a bad pass instead of keeping posession, which makes us revert to defending. Another player has the ball up top and is looking for options, but nobody is there to support so we lose the ball and revert to defending. This is the problem. So instead of taking a chance pushing players forward all the time, Capello rather keep the defense sound, no matter who we play. If I was coach I would give the players more freedom to attack, however that might backfire and we would be left exposed at the back. Capello is just an old-fashioned traditional coach who does not take many risks. Well, I think we will have to take risks in two weeks.
We went forward to good effect in the first 10-15 minutes and had Real on the backfoot. I thought we were doing fairly well and don't see why we couldn't have continued like that. True, Nedved's injury hurt us, but we need to take more risks. Had luck been on Real's side they would have won by two or three.

Our problem is very simple. If Nedved plays,, we hace a chance,,, if nedved doesnt.... bb champions league and any other competition.

Today we got a "good result"... a very good taking in consideration taht we didnt took more goals and madrid wasted a lot of chances. IN the first minutes with nedved in we were ok,,,but after that w elost midfield and that is something u cant afford when playing against real madrid.

DP and Xlatan.... people are fighting to make one of them "the scapegoat" but, sincerely,,, even when zlatan was better that DP today,,, none of them have completely fault in our scoreless game.

We simply dont have midfield possetion,,, we dont know how to pass the ball or kept it,,,, and If nedved is not around we are SCREWED.

We have a very good chance of beating and eliminating real in Delle Alpi..... but Nedved have to be there, is a Must,,,

Cuz i dont see any other way to have a chance against real madrid.... and now to make things worse... Zidane was like in his best days... what a display,, whata classy player. Between my suffering of seing how real madrid outclasssed us... it was a joy for me to saw zidane playing like a master again.

Very true. That's how I explain his defencive tactics too. We rock in defence but suck in attack. Simple as that.

About that playmaker, we should really have one who like you said would drive the team forward, somebody who could link the midfield with attack. Under Lippi we had Nedved but Capello's 4-4-2 system has unabled this option. I think Capello could therefore consider switching to a 4-3-1-2, as he would not only make Nedved more effective and useful to the side, but also Zambrotta who would be allowed to move forward more often and play like we know how. Of course then we probably wouldn't be as solid defencively but a lot more effective in attack.

The reason why we could not continue like that was because Real upped their pressure on the ball and started to hold on to possession. Once that happens Real start to become more comfortable which makes us retreat and fall back to defend. When that occurs we seem to not be able to snap out of the defensive mindset, and Real keep plugging away.

I don't understand how a team like Juve can be content having defenders like Zebina starting games....whats the point of getting rid of Montero..at least Montero gets away with fouls much like Cordoba...Zebina is just attracting the refs attention..YOU KNOW he will foul.
More over, I was scanning the bench to see who could come in and pump something into this team. My conclusion: NO ONE. The bench lacks creative depth. Tacchinardi will not win you games or turn the score around. He will help you keep a lead or help in a tie but not down 1 goal when NOTHING is clicking.
The players looked like they were in a charity game in the sense that it was the first time they played together: no communication between Zlatan and Emerson. At one point it looked like DP was a step ahead of everyone and on his game but with no one to follow suit.
The problem and reason it got this way is because Moggi and Capello were pleasantly surprised when Juve KEPT the lead through Serie A. The reason being was not that they were so superior but Milan's LACK OF STEPPING IT UP A NOTCH when it mattered. Milan always seemed to fizzle after a few big games allowing Juve to keep the lead.
This is looking like a balloon that is slowing losing air and flying through the air....
I wouldn't want Capello's job because it is more than just winning at Delle Alpi which can be done BUT finding solutions when there are none: what happens if Zlatan AND Nedved were to be injured?

Are you kidding?! Camoranesi as playmaker? And Ferrara?:frown: It almost seems as if you want Juve to get knocked out of CL...

Ferrara is more reliable than Montero and Camoransi is the best playmaker we have.

The problem is half of Milan's bench would be starting at Juve. Moggi decided to be a cheap skate in the market as always, and when we need a few players with quality in attack he shrugs it off. Hell, even Rodrigo Taddei (rumored with Juve) could have helped us out this season.

Anyways,,,,, juventus have not money to spend much...

ok they have the money.... but with our balance being always worse everyday, they dont want to take risks

How can we concentrate on not conceding rather than scoring when we have tio score!!!

The defensive 4-4-2 will see us lose, we have absolutely no chance of going through with that kind of mentality. If we want to have any chance of going through we have to go all out attack and make them defend for 90 minutes.

Let me try to explain it this way:

Real are good at attacking. They are bad at defending.

By sitting back and waiting we are allowing them to do what they are good at rather than attacking their weaknasses.

I would not agree 100% just 50%.

we just have to do what we did 2 years ago.. to attack when we have to..and to defend when we have to.... not to defend always like we did today.

we cant let real take the mid.

if we go on all-out attack against them,,they will rip us appart...that is their speciality and we are crap at that.
