What a game - we looked okay, not great, but okay for the first time in the season, but a combination of Chiellini's worst game ever and a ridiculous referee meant we only just lost.

Notes:

- Why was Conte telling us all season that he doesn't have the players for a 4-3-3?
- Chiellini is unable to play as a CB in big matches
- Other than the early shot, Marchisio is a nothing player
- Pirlo has expired
- Vidal played like a lion
- Giovinco made a noticeable difference when he came on
- it was 4-3-1-2
- he usually doesnt fuck up like this on the penalty
- marchisio was the reason madrid looked bad and not nearly as fluent as ever, played excellent defensively
- he was doing good in the buildup, and should have had an assist on pogba
- yes
- real hadd 80 meters between benzema/bale and the last defender. He'll never get that space anywere else

I'm proud of our team. Great result considering we were playing 10 against 11 for almost entire second half, we didn't go in "Juventus turtle shell" mode and kept on creating chances until the last minute. I would definitely like to see some more of this formation, especially with Giovinco in Marchisio's place. He looks completely different when he's given freedom to roam around, instead of having to fight against 30cm taller center backs. Llorente was great too, he's linking up with Tevez very nicely. Caceres has been a true warrior, love that guy to death.

The biggest disappointment is probably Ogbonna or Pirlo. Ogbonna was completely out of rhythm for the whole match. Seeing as he was bombing up while playing as center back against Verona, I thought he could do really well as a left back, but his lack of ball control and dribbling technique let him down, while the latter is getting slower, clumsier and generally worse with every single match. It's too early to judge whether he hit the point, where his game quality drops drastically, but it is concerning. We should rest him for the next couple of matches in order for him to be ready to play against Real in Turin.

My formation for next match (if everyone is available, except for Chiellini of course):

Buffon
Lichtsteiner Barzagli Bonucci Caceres
Vidal Pogba Asamoah/Marchisio
Giovinco
Llorente Tevez
giovinco crowded in the center..yeah....

most important game will be in Istanbul :sergio:
One thing I notice is that this season our players seem to tire out easier. It used to be us tiring opponents out. Now it is the other way round.

Also, not enough chances created for our midfielders to try long shots.
Because we often chase, our passing game has gone up in smoke.

Very proud of the team tonight, so unlucky, out played Real for most if not all of the game. Yet again german refs looking to help Bayern and BVB by taking out their main rivals for the Champions League.
Buffon only made 1 or 2 saves, if not for non existant red card or pen (very unlucky Chiellini on both occasions) we would have deservedly won game.

Conte still the best manager in the world, willing to take the game to Real Madrid, even with 10 men.

Play like that from now on, 3rd straight scudetto in the bag.
We can win by playing this way ONLY if opponents don't park the bus.

I don't believe we'll win in Turin. I'd say, Madrid will beat us in the return leg too. They were playing with the pressure of the Classico, and expectations of the home crowd with the 3 points being more crucial than next time round. Next time, they'll play freely, and when they play freely, they're destructive. All that said, Juve were better than Madrid today. Our psychological issues remain the same. Fatigue. When it's not Bonnucci, it's Chielini. When it's not Chiellini, it's Buffon. I feel bad for Conte, coz I know how much this is affecting him and how much he care for the club. Hopefully, stuff goes in our favour, the next three rounds. If we crash out, then it's not coz of tonight. It's coz of thte Gala and FCK games.

    - it was 4-3-1-2
    - he usually doesnt $#@! up like this on the penalty
    - marchisio was the reason madrid looked bad and not nearly as fluent as ever, played excellent defensively

    - yes
    - real hadd 80 meters between benzema/bale and the last defender. He'll never get that space anywere else
    - he gets away with that sort of thing commonly
    - Marchisio was the reason they looked bad? You're right, his tactical approach stifled everything they did
    - good in build up at times, generally too slow and too easily loosing the ball
    - mhm
    - Giovinco has looked good all season when given a chance

Problems at the back, lots of fouls in the middle and totally out of ideas up top. All that combined with cowardly decisions and pussy approaches. Yes, this is our Juve this season. I will not focus on the referee, bad decisions or not after the red card we went back to pussy football by removing our only goal scorer and leaving Pirlo in a 10 man team where he will not get the space needed to play his game. He was never going to touch the ball and his defensive contribution is almost as good as mine. What makes us even more pathetic was that Real were playing at 50% of their potential and yet we couldn't even threaten them. The Champions League journey is over, actually it was over in Denmark when Giovinco came in because FCK's defenders were good in the air. :sergio:

    Buffon 5.5

In future, I would like to see Conte have the balls to use this formation:

    ----------------------Buffon------------------------

    Lichsteiner----Barzagli----Chiellini-----Asamoah

    ---------------Vidal--------Pogba------------------

    -----Marchisio-------Tevez---------Giovinco------

    ---------------------Llorente------------------------

Asamoah could actually be a good left back rather than wing back.
