Imagine a defender in his own box doing it, the attacker plowing him down without getting anywhere near to the ball, would you give a foul there? Those same rules apply the other way around, clear as day pen

So all Juve needs is a 1-0 win to advance. Might think better chance 2-1 and winning after 90 minutes. Advance and then we can all pray Pirlo can get this team playing better. LOTS OF PRAYERS!

Take a closer look guys . When the touch came ronaldo already looks like he was falling on his back.
He never had any intention to play that ball. At that moment in time he was just waiting to go down.
Well this is more of a pen than that of Inter last week.
The porto player legs hits ronaldo legs (who was going back toward the ball)..

It is a penalty.. a clear one

I have no confidence we'll play better in the second leg. Porto will probably try to shut up shop and the Chiesa goal gives us the excuse to say well, it's not so bad and we have time. Then we all know what happens.

I'm sure that if penalty like that was given against us, the usual suspects here would come out and say that it was "clear penalty" just to demonstrate how impartial they are. Today they won't think it was a penalty, because it was not given...

Getting back to the game, one phrase that come to mind to describe todays' performance (and a lot of performances this year)- imitating effort. This group of players got waaay to comfortable losing.

Yea was a penalty but I don’t want to cry about a penalty when we played so fucking bad. Ronaldo could’ve just shoot instead of trying that and we had a good chance to score. Really reminds me of a typical match vs Inter or Roma when we used to destroy them and they cried about a penalty moment.

Besides that EMBARRASSING match. Zero concentration, no midfield, wingers didn’t create, many offsides as usual, passes were way off, we looked like a bunch amateurs.

I agree in part, but this is two different items. On one hand, I can say we sucked today. On the other, I will 10000% of the time want us to win, and I feel aggrieved in this moment.

The worst thing about that penalty call is that it gives Pirlo and the players an excuse to talk about something else than that awful performance.

Seriously, fuck this team for that game.

Let's not let the supposed pk bury the lead

how awesome was it to see two goals scored in the openeing seconds of each half

such symmetry can be found in nature, mathematics, and now football

It’s true that fandom can can in the way of objectivity, but this was a foul. A foul can even been committed on a player laying down... just ask Pepe.CR7 was only off balance here, with nobody else around, 8 yards from goal... defenders contact took him clear out.

Dreadful performance that brings international shame on our club. This team starts games like zombies and takes 20 minutes to warm up.

We were terrible all game and very lucky to get a goal. Should have been 3-0 to Porto as well after they missed an easy chance. Pen shout at the end was 50/50 but at the end of the day we didn’t deserve to draw the game so justice was done.

So many shitty performances all over the park. Bentancur was terrible, Kulu was terrible, McKennie terrible. Our midfield is just a disaster - constantly neglected in the transfer window. 0 creativity

Only difference between this and lyon tie is we managed to fluke a away goal which was the key that knocked us out last time but we deserved fuck all from this game.

Irrelevant if Ronaldo was already going down, the player took the bait and continued to not look at the ball and make clear contact with him. It’s a clear foul.

Whilst the score line still looks close, we haven’t seen anything this season to suggest that can put in a coherent, organised performance for 90 mins.

you answered your own point. if he had no intention to play the ball, then what was the intention of defender who body slammed him?

thats a penalty
The defender can't stop at that speed. And ronaldo never had any intention to play the ball. He just stopped the ball and was waiting for the defender to slam into him. He , just doesn't care for the outcome of the play.
And that's why he doesn't get it. He should have tried to at least go in the direction where the ball stopped . Instead he just begins to fall on his back even before the defender touches him.
It lacks fair play.
That's why i said it would have been a harsh penalty.
I wouldn't want messi getting one like that if we were playing against barca.
I, also would have not given him the penalty for the same reasons that i stated above.

I've been here before, that famous comeback against Atleti, and others but I really just don't know how were gonna turn it around. Porto will score in the return leg, I'm just not sure how much.

Agreed, the only thing about some of them matches is we won't nervous and full of dozens of mistakes. The actual opposition played well in terms of attacking us yet here we are.
