Champions League is our primary objective this season; therefore I think we should play our best players against Rapid. At least to start off with. If we in the second half are winning convincingly - which we should be - we can make three early substitutions and rest some players.

We can't risk losing points tomorrow and if we rotate too many players there is a chance that we might not play as well as we usually do. I think this was the case against Parma. Don't get me wrong, I'm all for rotation. But I don't think we should change more than, say, 3 players per game. There is no point in rotating too much. If a player plays three games every two weeks then he should be fine; he doens't need to be rested more. If Zlatan starts against Rapid, I'm sure he would still be 100 % for the Inter game. We also need to make use of a player's good form. When Trez was on fire in the first couple of games he should have kept playing. Same with DP; after two good games against Ascoli and Udinese, he should've played against Parma. I think it would be unfair if he doesn't start tomorrow.

I'm actually quite glad that Vieira's suspended tomorrow. He's been one of our best players so far and has played every game as far as I can remember. He needs a rest and the game against Rapid is a game in which we should be able to do without him. I don't think we'll be able to rest him much later on - he is simply too important for us.

I'm not too worried about tomorrow's game though, as long as the players don't underestimate Rapid.

I would play this formation:

---------------------Abbiati--------------

Zebina----Thuram-----Canna-------Zambo

Camoranesi----Emo----Gianni------Nedved

--------------Ibra---------DP------------

Then I would make the following subs:

Zambrotta - Chiellini (half-time)
Nedved - Mutu (60th)
Ibrahimovic - Trezeguet (70th)

What do you guys think?

Btw, will we be able to watch this game online?

Rapid - Juve 0-3 (Ibra x 2, DP)

Forza Juve!!!
100% agreed

Champions league is our main pririty!!

yes champions league is our priority, but juve definatley going to qualify from this group along with bayern. yes its important to top the group so the matches against bayern are important. but the home matches againts rapid and brugge shold results in 3 points with the away ties been a bit more tricky.

so the real business of the champions league does not start till feburary. where to be in and ideal position two make a bid to progress through the latter stages to the final and win it. one of two situations must occur in the domestic league

you must be out of the running to win your own national title or sitting with a comfortable advantage which allows you to rest players etc

i am not saying its impossible to fight for the serie A title etc down to the wire and final day and also complete a memorable champions league double.

remember 2003 juve won serie a easliy and reached the final. imo our most crucial match this week is inter so resting a few players against rapid vieena should not cost us victory. i think resting canna neddy along with the suspended viera and maybe zambo would see massive reward v inter on sunday with no loss in our champions league group.

building up and increasing our serie A lead would greatly benefit our champions league bid

team v rapid

Abbiati

blasi thuram kovac cheillini

camo emerson giani mutu

zlatan DP/trez

then is we are comfortable last 20 mins take off emo

CL is our first priority this season. But Serie A is important too. So it's a question of finding the balance between resting players and still maintain a strong game that can win the matches for us. Considering the fact that we play Inter next weekend I think we should give key players from our starting eleven a rest. Players like Cannavaro, Zambrotta and Nedved.

My lineup:

Abbiati

Pessotto - Thuram - Kovac - Chiellini

Camoranesi - Blasi - Emerson - Mutu

Del Piero - Ibrahimovic

Nedved can replace Mutu during the match if needed. And Ibrahimovic can play like 50-70 minutes and be replaced by either Trezeguet or Zalayeta. This should be an easy victory but every match has it's own dangers. However I'm convinced we willl win this match.

Nedved was rested for the majority of Parma game and I don't think he needs to be rested again. As I said, I'd still take him off after about an hour - more to let Mutu play than to rest Nedved - which should be enough. He'll be fine for the Inter match.

I don't know about starting Chiellini. Perhaps we could afford that. I do agree that Zambrotta needs a rest, but if he's subbed at half-time I think he'll have recovered for the Inter game. Chiellini has barely played this season and I don't know if I'd trust him to start a CL game.

Cannavaro has indeed played every game so far and could perhaps benefit from sitting this one out. Kovac and Thuram have never played an official game together though, but yeah, I guess you could rest him. I feel much safer with Canna on the pitch though.

Zebina should only start if he's a 100 % fit. If he is, it would be good for him to gain some match fitness.

Other than that our formations are the same, Eire. :D

i know nedved was rested for the parma game but his form so far has not been too impressive, although he does save his best for the champions league he really wants to win this competition so bad.

but also i think starting mutu would benefit us too as it would build his confidence and his match fitness, to improve him and give us another option against inter as he strives to become an important squad member and even push for more regular starting place.

yeah it would be good if zebina was 100% and came through a full match. still i wish we had a better RB cant understand why miguel choose valencia over juve. well he is history, i would like to see more of Balzaretti and see what he is like. imo there is very little between zebina and blasi to who should be RB

Capello: “Una partita importante”

What did it say

Can you translate it ?
DP says that he has good experience with Rapid, the last time juve met them 10 years ago he scored 2 goals in the 5-0 win in dele alpi. Alex would like to repeat that.
He also wants to score goals and break the record as soon as possible.

We need to play a strong side against Rapid...remember, every team that plays against Juve ALWAYS gives 200% effort...we never have an easy game

That being said, I think we need to start the game with our regular starters, get an early lead, and make substitutions accordingly

DP should start, since he didnt play on saturday, and because he is in good form right now

alex and trez are our only attackers who scored goals so far this season, all other goals have been scored from the midfielders, Alex says: it is because of the quality of our midfielders.

he talked about his good record against rapid when he scored twice against them in the Delle Alpi in 1996 when Juve won 5-0 back then. and he says that he wants to play and do good and he saied something about our midfield .. don't know that is what i understood my Italian still needs to improve:)

btw.. if Del Piero plays it'll be his 100th game in Europe for Juve

i doubt he will though
