Glik: 'Referees help Juventus'
By Football Italia staff

Monaco defender Kamil Glik confessed he “perhaps deserved a red card” for stamping on Gonzalo Higuain, “but referees help Juventus and always will.”

The former Torino captain infuriated Bianconeri fans when he appeared to stamp on Higuain during last night’s Champions League semi-final, leaving a visible stud mark on his leg.

“I didn’t do it on purpose and had no intention of provoking the fans,” Glik told Polish television after the game.

“Perhaps I did deserve a red card, but in the past Juve players didn’t get sent off for worse. You don’t even have to go back that far, as on Saturday in the derby Afriyie Acquah was unfairly sent off and Sinisa Mihajlovic got a two-match ban for pointing that out.

“The referees help Juventus. Unfortunately, it has happened, it is still happening and it will always happen.

“I did not speak to Higuain after the game, but I did talk to other Juve players. I got kicked many times when I was in Italy, these things can happen during a tough match.”

That was a very coward thing to do by glik. I mean during a football game you can lose it and do something stupid but afterwards you have man up, apologize and take full responsibility for your actions. Not hide behind excuses that refs always helps Juventus.

This. Lots of players step on another player intentionally. And while it is despicable, it is usually not that dangerous.

But coming in with that kind of force on Higuain's knee really could have done some damage. Easily the worst challenge I've seen on this level in years. UEFA should make an example out of this guy and ban him for a year. If Suarez gets six months for biting, this deserves much much more.
Can Juve and Higuain sue glik? I'm sure the bastard can't use the excuse 'sorry, it's the heat of the moment' because he did it intentionally, with full force and his eyes were looking at Higuain's leg. So powerful even with slow motion replay.

I'm glad we are in the final. Now, let's fucking win it for once :D
You know this isn't happening. Gigi needs to retire as the best keeper to never win the CL. Our last all-time great GK, Zoff, never won the CL either. He lost it twice. And then Juve won it a couple years after he retired.

Maybe Gigi is bad Champion's League juju. Maybe we win it the year after he retires... :shifty:

I can't handle another CL Final loss, and not to fucking Real Madrid :yuck: :inter: We have to win it this year! Otherwise, I fear it might be another decade before we reach another final or win another European crown again :sigh:

If Higuain had sustained serious damage, yes. Generally it is accepted that as a player you expose yourself to the normal risks of the game. Even an aggressive tackle is such a risk. But Glik went in with the only intention to hurt and the ball wasn't even anywhere close.

Camoranesi got sued for something similar by the way and eventually was ordered to pay damages.

I don't think I can watch the final. I am gonna hide in my room and play battlefield 1 until the final is over.
Me too,but immediately after that thought I realize that not watching will be a bigger pain for me than watching.I don't know how I will survive?A lot of beers will probably help.
