Yeah, they could have put us to the sword fairly easily if they so wished.

Just the technical ability of each of their players to control the ball and make a pass is like night and day compared to ours.
Yeh, the possesion game shows.

And yes we all know barcelona are kings on possesion, but the fact that they took it easy on us, that we were in our stadium...

Just sad.

I still think that we could play good possession football if someone could convince Max to give up on the Pjanic-Khedira double pivot.

At the end of the game we had Marchisio, Khedira, Bentancur and Matuidi all on the pitch. There was no real organization, but you could see us gaining control in midfield.

Our starting midfield should be Marchisio, Pjanic and Matuidi with Bentancur as sub. Khedira should be relegated to 5th choice CM at best.

I don't think it's even about possession as much as it is about making a pass when under even a bit of pressure. Our players fail to make a pass at the thought of pressure let alone being under any real sort of pressure.
With Barca players, not only do they make the pass under pressure, but they make a dangerous pass that turns the tables on the team pressuring them. The very best our players will do under pressure is either make a pass back to a defender, or lose the ball.

It really comes down to technical ability.

The passes the midfield duo does are mostly sideways and without personality

That was Perhaps the most borring match i have ever seen us play. And Barca to. Barcelona make 5694 passes without trying to score, my god i hate their football. Never understood people love their approach, so fucking borring. And they were just as defensive as we were. They Will get fucked in the knockout stages.

Good defending, but it makes it imposible to build up our game with 3 defenders not able to pass. It was clear that all our focus was not to concede. Pjanic and Khedira didnt make a single offensive run.

I Think we could have won the match if we had the confidence, but allegri played it safe and took the small team approach, and I can se his Reasons.

System made it difficult to attack, but allegri cant be blamed for our terrible technical level. Higuain and Cuadrado may have lost possesion 200 times each.

Finaly: it must be clear as daylight now! Douglas has to play. We are dangerous everytime he touches the ball, our problem is he gets to few touches. will also create more space for Dybala. At this point teams know that if you shot dybala down we loose all our creativity!

Some bright moments, but borring as $#@!!

Max obviously was too afraid to lose it, the team understood it, the sub confirmed it, we attacked 2 minutes and didn't score and called it a good point.... let's see what's next cuz so far we are quite underwhelming

Cant agree more.

But For costa or our other tricky players like pjaca and berna to play, some need to hit the bench and the elephants in the room are cuadrado and mandzukic.

Preferably i would sit both, since i do not see what they offer anymore.
One was an all grinta powerhouse who has faded. Mandz used to battle everyone on their own, and thats why he played there... to let others try more. But he has clearly lost the drive he used to have. It could be lack of motivation, or it simply could be that his physique is declining...lets be real, what he did the last 2 seasons was very demanding physically, to the point i dont know how he lasted so much with that standard of physical sacrifice.

Cuadrado, im tired of talking about him. Use him as a rb, or use him as a leftwinger and let him shoot with his right foot, or bench him and use him as an impact sub. But he simply is not good enough to carry our attack as a top team. And i say carry because since mandzukic cant beat his man or run the whole game like a true winger does, we rely on cuadrado almost exclusively for this matters.

Whats the Plan of Allegri in Greece, did we also play for a draw? I ask because it doesn't matter if we make 0 or 1 point in Piräus (If Sporting win, we need also 3 points). And don't forget this game is between Inter and Napoli

We have so many good players on the bench that things like 3 big matches in less that 2 weeks shouldnt be a problem.
I still believe that will play much better soon, wont believe Max totally lost it as he always turn things around close to this period of the season.
Anyway having in hand so many games with teams from the top of the table is a bit worrying.

there is no way sporting will win anyway. those motivated youngsters are still much better than sporting
Barca have topped the group. They could easily field a CL team and be unmotivated.

Although yeah I don't expect them to beat them. We'll probably scrawl our way to a point at Olympiakos while Barca beat Sporting. That's the most realistic scenario.
