Del Piero out of Gala tie Monday 1 December, 2003

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Juventus will rest a number of first team regulars in Tuesday’s rearranged Champions’ League clash against Galatasaray.

The Bianconeri will fly out to Dortmund today, where the game will be played because of safety fears in Turkey, without five of their best players.

Alex Del Piero, Gianluca Zambrotta, Lilian Thuram, Alessio Tacchinardi and Nicola Legrottaglie will all remain in Turin. Salvatore Fresi also misses out.

The Italian champions have already qualified for the next phase of the tournament and only need a point from their last two games to make sure they win their group.

However, the Old Lady will be keen to put in a decent display after they were criticised for their shock 3-1 home defeat to Inter on Saturday.

"It was just one of those days," stated Tacchinardi after his side tasted defeat for the first time this term. "It’s the first game that we have failed to perform in and these things happen.

"Inter were more motivated than us. But that doesn’t mean that we underestimated them.

"We’ve suffered similar defeats in the past, even in the years when we walked away with the championship."

Meanwhile, the Turin giants reportedly have two Lazio players on their wanted list for next summer.

Both midfielder Stefano Fiore, valued at £6.5m, and defender Massimo Oddo, at £5m, are being chased by transfer chief Luciano Moggi.

Why isn't it good news? At least that way DV will play ;)

Hey guys where did you read/hear that Zambro was and is still out cos of flu? Cos all I heard and read is that he's out from a muscle injury which he picked last Tuesday during training.

It seems that Buffon, Nedved, and Trezeguet will make the trip to Germany but will be in the bench for the match. Olivera is out and Lippi is set to play with Di Vaio, Miccoli, and Zalayeta all from the start. Neddy and Treze should be used in the second half if needed. Di Vaio was disappointing agianst Inter, but let's hope he improves against the Turks. I also hope Maresca has a good night.

I don't feel good about this :frown::frown::frown::frown: I felt sick after that loss to inter, and now I'm depressed...:(:( They've got a lot to play for......I wish DP would play in this game so he could get his form back, and DV maybe should play as well-as someone said, rest Trez.........this isn't looking good, but Forza Juve!!!!!!!!

It would surprise me if we did well, Gala is playing their best squad and we're resting several key men. Lippi wants a point from this one, we do have a tough schedule the coming weeks and we might get that draw but just as likely we might not IMO. If any, this is a time for a guy like Miccoli to turn on the heat.
