Arsenal at their very best are actually one of the few teams who could beat Barcelona in one off games. I've seen them do it several times to top teams. But only if they play their adapted European game, not foolishly trying to out play Barcelona.

Arsenal's problem is consistency and mental weakness, you only have to see their European results. Still, it's something that could also be angled at us, especially this season.

Just amazing how people continue to obsess themselves with pittance increases from CL money

The next time Serie A sits down to negotiate the CL tv rights deal, and assuming Italian teams keep performing poorly, we'd just have to force ourselves in a position to accept an underwhelming deal.
This is having an effect on Serie A's global tv rights deal. It's at a paltry €186m a yr.
Only CL can bring back attention to the league again which means we need more Italian teams doing well on the CL stage. It's that simple.
The money we could earn with the league as a whole doing better is better than any payment from the CL market pool.
Even in the shorter run , hoping Italian teams to keep failing is not exactly that benefiting either.

By the way, qualifying as champion from your league will guarantee you a hefty payment either way.

The first line suggests you're disagreeing with me, but after that, I'm not sure who you're agreeing or disagreeing with.

One of us (Azzurri7) is arguing that revenue isn't important at all (you're arguing about the best way we can increase revenue, so you disagree).

The other (me) is arguing that revenue is one of the important elements for success (which you agree with - surely almost everyone does) and that, in the long run, more Serie A teams in the CL would be beneficial for us (so far we agree), but in the short run, less Serie A teams is better for us (where we disagree). But in your post, only one line (the penultimate one) is dedicated to shorter run, and you provided no reasoning for that part of your argument.

And a correction: The extra CL money (I believe we're talking about 30+ M) we make when the 3rd-placed team doesn't enter the competition isn't "pittance" under any stretch of the imagination.

And additional income isn't entirely dependent on others. Bayern is doing very well.

A new deal just started this season. The next deal falls under the longer-term category. The extra 10s of millions this season and next season is/will be great for us. It needs to start changing after that. 3rd-placed teams need to start qualifying and building up coeffs. I think with Napoli and Roma are heading in that direction. The two clubs with the larger fanbases - Inter and Milan - still have a lot of work to do.

We could get the 4th place back, but given EPL financial windfall esp with the new deal, it'd only be a temporary achievement. Something better than temporary won't happen in the foreseeable future. We can start competing with Bundesliga when the other top clubs finally build their own stadium.

Fucking commentator (I think it was owen) saying Ferguson didnt keep Pogba because the latter demanded a lot of money
He's a retard, don't worry. And Glen "disabled people are evil people reincarnated" Hoddle doing analysis as well, BT Sport really scraping the barrel.

Lessons Learned:
1) Juve is not a park the bus counter attacking team. We must always play to our strengths.
2) This 4-4-2 is garbage. The players don't know what they are supposed to do in this shape and we fail to string 3 passes together. It cost us 2 home goals.
3) Cuadrado is by far our most frustrating player in this group. Since Calciopoli, Marchionni was the most frustrating and then the next group of players had Amauri and then Matri. This group it will be Caudrado.

4) Bayern's midfield can be dominated. A midfield of Vidal, Bernat and Thiago can be controlled. While its unlikely that we will pass this could serve as a blue print to kill Bayern Munich. Alonso makes a huge difference.
5) Allegri is not faulted in this match except to some mental preparation.
