The biggest issue with it, is that it got killed when it all came togheter.
From 2009 to 2012, bayern never were that imposing all murdering team. They were very good, but in the biggest games, they were underdog.
- in 2010 they should have bowed out to a far superior manchester who they were getting hammered. United got lazy in the second half, and leaked stupid goals. During that year, the far superior barcelona was eliminated by Inter, who without too much issue won the final against bayern
- in 2011 they were on the wrong side of luck and got inter again. Despite it beeing benitez inter, they still won.
- in 2012 they still were a high quality team, but not the very best. Thanks to city underperforming, napoli's horrible luck, and the easyest 16th and QF draw, they got madrid. Madrid who were superior to barcelona that year, and were again killing bayern, who needed some luck to only concede 1 goal, but got a lucky pk to equalist it, with madrid not pushing. In the return, they held out against a madrid crippled by that classico, and faced chelsea who also needed a disgusting amount of luck to get a similar story against barcelona. In the final, the inferior chelsea won
However, it was testament to their future to how this team's organisation was holding its own in Heynckens first year.
Then came those summer transfers that completed the team. they needed time to find their feet, but grew into that impossibly great team
Trashing arsenal at home, and then beeing very sloppy could have costed them. But they went trough and obliterated the italian highly rated champion, absolutely destroyed barcelona, and when they stopped missing, also took out dortmund
After 1.5 years, the bayern side was finished and was a domminating force, not the underdog. This is where it should have went on.
However, they got a coach who was completely different. Who crippled the team wich had just perfected its style, to gave them one they werent best suited for. Yet despite this, Bayern remained the domminant team. Each year under guardiola, they had an aura of wasted potential, yet they remained so very powerfull
If they have gotten a coach who continue'd heynckens phylosophy, they could have remained a wrecking ball. its a greatly missed opportunity. Because of this mistake, they'll never get the recognition as barcelona did, because ever since they got ronaldinho, barcelona's tactical choises have been good to excellent.
