ive never understood why Ronaldo is so hated, and why he's the "bad guy" while Messi it the "good guy."
Because Ronaldo is a diva. His self-aggrandizing behaviour and ridiculous petulance can be quite disgusting to witness.

Messi is much more unassuming and far less about self-promotion. He comes across as less narcissistic and egocentric.

Or so I believe is the reason. I don't hate Ronaldo. He goes a little over the top with his behaviour at times, but that's just the nature of a lot of people at the very top of a sport.

David Beckham is more of a Diva than Ronaldo ever will be, and yet he's considered a footballing hero to some, and I'm not just talking about England fans

Many players are. But Ronaldo is in the spotlight being one of the top 2 players in the game today, and that fierce debate between rival fans of Ronaldo and Messi, means a lot of hatred is spewed in either direction.

Because Ronaldo has some sort of personality/public persona, so there is something for people to dislike.

Messi doesn't seem to have a personality.

And it's also because, for a number of years, Barca have been portrayed as the goodies and Real as the baddies.

More broadly, it amazes me that so much time is still devoted to Messi v Ronaldo arguments.

They were never very interesting to start with and there has been nothing new to add to them for about five years now.

Mean XI
wouldn't want to play against

Regarding the Boating / Messi discussion
I want to stand up for Jerome and allah knows how hard it is for me to defend Bayern scums. Generally speaking defenders have a truly ungrateful job. For 89 minutes you can do a perfect job, fail in one situation and nobody will ever remember the good things you've done throughout the game. Attacking players can play awful for 89 minutes, have one bright moment and nobody will remember your terrible 89 minutes because you scored. Moreover I feel like Pep is an inconvincible turdface who wouldn't set up a defender-friendly gameplan to save his or his club's life. Pep lost the game. Why was there so much space between Pep's lines when Rakitic passed the ball to Messi e.g.? Boateng looked very poor in that particular situation, you can't take it away. But all in all let's not make him a worse defender than he is.

But in reality I think it's the opposite. Ronaldo does what he does, and messi I think does what his marketing director says.

yes and what Red said, Messi has nothing to dislike about him, because he's just empty vessel of personality.

Oh I agree. I just was explaining the reason for Ronaldo hatred. He's unapologetically narcissistic and egotistical. It's cool.

Only managed to open penultimate video, might look at others when I get home, but can't see any resemblance between Boateng's absurd fall, completely losing his balance without possibility to make any kind of recovery (he finished on the ground ffs) and getting beaten by skillful player (no shame in that), but still not losing your dignity as is the case in the video above. Surely you can see the difference.
watch puyol, Gerrard, Nesta and Carlos. Puyol especially is probably the worst humiliation Ive seen a defender get.
