Never bought the hype around Cantona to be honest, very overrated in my book, compared to other players in the mid 90s like Baggio, Romario, Stoichkov, Weah, Saviecevic (sp?) he was very average. The EPL in the mid 90s was such a poor league, he stood out because everyone around him was dogshit. He did absolutely nothing in Europe with Utd, and did very little for France.

Bergkamp and Zola were miles better than Cantona (and I don't rate Zola that highly either).

Bergkamp... fucking love that guy, what an awesome player he was. For me he was closest thing to DP. Style, class and skill.

You know how you always hear players say in interviews stuff like "Ronaldo was the best forward I ever faced" or "Marchisio is the smartest midfielder I've ever played against" or "Cannavaro gave me the hardest time when I played him"? Not sure I ever heard anyone say that about Maldini.
Think Nesta said Trezeguet was the striker he feared the most.

He did. Said he was impossible to follow, or something like that.
Aye, think it was because Nesta's pace meant he could handle most of the strikers that you'd expect defenders to be terrified by.

Trezeguet's ability to completely fuck you over with one yard of movement was far more difficult for a player like Nesta to deal with.
