They are kinda different kind of players. Totti at his best days played more behind the striker and he surely had better vision as he was sort of playmaker but more attacking, his passes and creativity were brilliant.
I'd give Totti the edge over Del Piero because of his superior vision.

Those one touch (long)passes of Totti in his early days were out of this world. Not even Pirlo or Zidane could manage those.

In terms of quality Totti is certainly up there and I can honestly say that whenever I've watched Totti play against any team other than Juve I've enjoyed the hell out of it, the guy is a maestro.
Since when does quality alone makes a player great?
