Not too fussed that it's Italian teams who are beating the English sides, but I'm fucking loving the beating the EPL sides are getting in the Champions League this year.

So? After all, its still a British channel he's working for. I don't know how they do it over in Canada but if a Swedish team is playing anybody in Europe you'd see our commentators being biased too.
The difference being that this propaganda is being broadcast around the world and not just in Downton Abbey.

When you watch the Premier League week in, week out, it's hard to believe there are international sports announcers who act like quality football doesn't exist beyond the English Channel.
I personally can't blame them. The English did invent soccer after all.

And wow, I can't say I wasn't expecting Napoli to win but I definitely wasn't expecting Chelsea to play that badly.

Pretty stupid game that: mistakes all over the place and heaps of space left by both teams.

I don't understand Essien not starting the game.

Have Chelsea watched Napoli before? What on earth were they doing making it an open game and allowing heaps of counter-attacks?

Unusually disorganised defensive display from Napoli - they seemed to have far more of an issue than they ought to in deciding how to play against Mata.

Nothing Canavaro could do about the Chelsea goal, what with the freakishly high bounce it took off the pitch.

The Chelsea midfield was a JOKE. Please tell me everyone saw Meireles literally run away from Lavezzi just before he scored the first goal. Please tell me you guys saw that.

The game on Stamford Bridge will fit Napoli perfectly. Chelsea will go all attack and Napoli will just do their thing and counterattack all day.

yes yes (has mad gleam in eyes)

No epl teams for the quarter finals, that would be perfect. I thought 2010 was great but it looks like 2012 will be even better

Yeah, all the commentators were asking the same question, what the hell was he doing? My mate's a Chelsea fan and he is still perplexed as to what it is exactly that Meireles does for the team :D

The groundsman would get lynched.

Yup.

He was drawn to Cavani's run.

Fuck knows why, as there were at least two players closer to Cavani than he was.

Just a really stupid bit of play.
