Tottenham only have one good striker imo, that is Defoe, so if Cavani or Lavezzi came to Tottenham, i don't think there would be any doubt that they'd start.

As for Gargano, i personally rate him and would start him ahead of Palacios/Huddlestone.

I like how when naming Napoli players you name their best, but when naming Tottenham players you name Jenas, Palacios and Ekotto.

The latter mind you despite being error prone and not always reliable would still start for Napoli simply because they don't have a good leftback(or wingback in their case) themselves. Zuniga isn't a leftback, and Aronica and Dossena are both not as good as Ekotto.

Out of the players you've mentioned two play in the same position and Palacios is better than Gargano, no doubt about it.

They are completely different players, choosing between them would not be easy, but i'd prefer Gargano because in addition to his defensive abilities, he can pass the ball around very well too.

In any case. Gomes, Corluka, Gallas, King, Ekotto, Bale, Modric, VDV and Palacios(in Yebda or Blasi's place) would all start for Napoli quite comfortably.

Anyone thought that Terry and Ferdinand aren't better than Friedrich and Mertesacker? Ashley Cole and Lahm are of same quality, right? Jonhson and Badstuber (Bad who?)?

Anyone in England knew Neuer? Even Ozil wasn't known while Barry, Milner, Joe Cole and Lennon were well known.

So tell me honestly, player per player, how many of the Germans would have started for the English team back in May if you were the coach?

P.S: Hell, even if you compared the coaches you'd have chosen Capello. If you compared the benches you'd have chosen the English one.

I probably wouldn't have started many German players ahead of their English counterparts, and so wouldn't you most probably at the time.

We all saw how good Schweni was in the CL last season with Bayern, and we all know how good Lahm is a long time ago, so in all honesty, those two players were probably the only ones i'd start.

Still, you have to admit that as individuals the English are indeed player for player better than the Germans, but thats the Germans for you, they play as a team and work like a machine, they're not comparable to other teams, and even though they have inferior individuals to the likes of Argentina and England, they're still better as a team, as a whole as a unit.

If we are assuming that all Liverpool's players are fit, and if we were to assume that Liverpool will continue to deploy a 4-2-3-1 system. I'd say that Cavani and Lavezzi would not stand a chance with Torres. Still i would try and fit one of them on the wing. Cavani showed his ability to play as a winger in the world cup, so i might prefer playing him on the wing over Jovanovic or Babel.

I'd say Hamsik and Gargano would definitely start ahead of Meireles and Lucas.

Glen Johnson is always injured, if we assume he's fit, i'd take him ahead of Maggio and Zuniga. If not, both players would easily start for Pool.


All in all, assuming everyone is fit, and assuming Pool don't change their tactical setup, Cavani, Hamsik and Gargano would start for Pool.

Sure, English players are overhyped. Thats why you get people believing that Ozil isn't as good as Milner, why you get people thinking Khedira isn't better than Barry, or Lahm isn't miles better than Glen Johnson. Thats also why most EPL fans(especially the British ones) don't know that all 3 German keepers are better than any keeper England has produced ever since Seaman. Its also the reason some might even go as far as thinking Walcott is a more promising prospect than Mueller or Kroos.

But players like Lampard, Gerrard, Terry, Ferdinand and Rooney are players with undoubted quality and pedigree. Your just as much a victim of the English media if you think otherwise.

Theres no denying about the hype, i see that everyday ridicolous and arrogant, but whats annoying is the fact that for the past 5 or many seasons more the EPL teams are doing well in the CL and the english players playing for them have performed. Performing well in their league is a different matter, doing it in europe is a whole new breed of hype which people like andy townshead and co love to thrive about.
