Bah I hate this argument because we get nowhere. People who support Serie A will say one thing while who support EPL teams will say another thing. I just hate these arrogant we'll smash Palermo and Sampdoria 3/4 nil. It's baseless claims and totally unfounded.

We usually thrash weaker opposition in Europe at the Emirates, its all speculation, but i do believe we'd do the same to a Sampdoria or a Palermo. When playing against stronger opposition such as Inter, there is almost no doubt that we'd lose though.

Again its all speculation, but past events are an indicator that such a scenario is extremely possible.

Its not like that, however it gives you a good indication. I mean, Samp couldn't get past the preliminaries. Somehow i can't imagine Tottenham not making it if they played Werder in that same stage. The fact that they beat them then in real life, makes my speculation that much more credible.
Why couldn't Spurs lose to Werder Bremen?

They drew 2-2 in Bremen and they may well not beat them in the return game.

Samp were within a couple of minutes of going through the qualifier.

It's all far to tight to make definitive statements.

Maybe so, then on the other hand I could say Cassano would rape your defence and score a hattrick? no? because he's more than capable of it.

I'm not playind down Bale, and i rate him a lot. But i actually don't remember much of that game, was Ferreira our RB? :D

I do recall Terry was sent out, though.
You do remember the game. Ferreira was indeed the fullback, but Ivanovic came in later on, plus Terry got his arse handed to him by Bale too.

It is, my claims will be a lot stronger when Tottenham beat Werder in London. Which i'm quite sure will happen.

He would trouble us if Samp get enough possession. Which is something i doubt, our possession football works most of the time in Europe against weaker opposition.

Yeah i know Terry got raped. That's what actually impressed me the most, because, being brutally honest, Ferreira is not that hard to rape if you have pace. :D

They may or may not beat them, it's not going to influence my opinion on how Spurs compare to Samp.

This is not aimed at you either Fred, It's aimed at Arsenal fans in general alot still have this general attitude, which I really dislike.
I won't disagree that EPL fans, and in particular ones based in the UK based on my experience in Arsenal forums at least, are alarmingly ignorant and oblivious of foreign leagues. Being biased to the EPL is a natural consequence then.

And they must have lost that game but they were incredibly lucky. They even lost a 0:2 lead. I remember many chances at 2:2 for Werder and iirc Marin hit the post in the last minute. (I have no idea why is Fred saying that Tottenham outplayed Werder )

Samp were eliminated by Werder but they weren't inferior overall. They were simply stupid to concede a last minute goal when they had a 3:0. But they also scored a last minute goal in Bremen so it equals things out. In any case, they weren't superior nor inferior to Werder. They were equal and extra time being played is enough proof of that.

Right now Werder and Tottenham are equal too. Lets wait for the return match.

I didn't rely on that to form my opinion on who the better team is. I used that as an indicator. Another indicator is Spur's personnel's obvious superiority as individuals.

I think Fred mixed the Twente and Werder Bremen matches.

Tottenham outclassed and outplayed Twente, they won 4-1, he probably mixed them up with Werder.

    /Devil's advocate.

My mistake. However, lets wait for the return match, and lets wait for who qualifies in the end. Make no mistake, i will rub it in, after all this ends :D

gotta love ITV coverage,Gareth Bale scores his first and they say "it's great to see what he can do against these SO CALLED world class players" then when he got 2 goals (when the game was prett much over "Inter are hanging on for dear life"

nah mate, they were 4-0 up and cruising through the game, trying not to pick up a silly booking or an injury, the game was already won

I happen to think Spurs have a better starting XI and a much better squad.

I just don't see how speaking about how they have done against Werder Bremen can be used to draw any firm conclusions.

If Tottenham don't beat Werder in the 5th round, then you will see who qualifies. Especially if Inter don't need pts when they visit Werder in the last round. Say and do everything in football, but never ever underestimate the Germans. :D

I already said it was all speculation. I didn't claim to make any "firm conclusions" out of the Werder Bremen bit.

It is however an indicator that we can use to base our speculation on.

If Tottenham don't beat Werder in the 5th round, then you will see who qualifies. Especially if Inter don't need pts when they visit Werder in the last round. Say and do everything in football, but never ever underestimate the Germans. :D

Of course, i am completely relying on the Spuds beating Werder however. Which i firmly believe will happen.
