Honestly not even that mad.

I sort of expected a loss here - away at Camp Nou, countless injuries, early-season Juve. Had all the hallmarks there. I reckon we will see a much different team and performance when we play them at J Stadium. Calm down folks. Season is still long.
Pretty much what I've been saying for the last couple hours.

I don't know why people are freaking out.

This is a bad loss any way you slice it or dice it. Excuses of personnel being injured, scapegoating Benatia etc. is just running away from the facts. We don't have the roster we once did and our attack cannot dominate matches (we can safely conclude without any shadow of a doubt that Higauin is not the man for that). Even against Chievo, we may have won 3-0, but Chievo had a lot of chances (Allergi made comments about that after the match).

The only comforting factor is you can only go up from here (well actually you can go down by losing to Olympiacos and Sporting).

Well our transfer summer kind of f us up. We lost alves (a ucl champ) and bonbon(a key of our defense). In return, we bought di sciglio, who is a chievo kind of player. As much as our attacking depth improved, our quality did not. We need to target experienced winners. Assensio, Bale, Kroos, Pique etc. even mascherano would have been exciting.

I really think people over rate Bonucci. He is not Cannavaro in 2006. Dude gets worked in every big final and dont forget his lapses in concentration. He was a good passer but he was never in the same bracket of defenders like Cannavaro, Nesta and Chiellini when in top form and healthy. Alves is 35 in May.

Rugani will surpass Bonucci soon and our wingers will make up for whatever offense Alves provided. The team just needs to get playing time together and develop consistency in a system that we stick to .. be it 433 or 4231. Once the midfielders understand Costa and Bernardeschi's movements I think we will be great in offense. For defence its all about Chiellini and Rugani playing together.

This is the optimism this forum needs more of.

We couldn't have had a worse draw for the first match this season's CL...Barcelona away with new players/formations.

Barca could be saying the same thing with their new team (albeit with much less changes than ours), but they took it in their stride and played their own game.

This is the difference between a winning and losing mentality.

It's still early so let's see how we respond in the next 2 UCL games.

They also weren't missing their best CB, a host of CM's and starting wingers.

Wouldn't you think it would have been easy to play your own game at home against a depleted foreign side?

Yeah, people need to take a step back. I actually was happy with how we were playing at times. Looked to have some cutting edge and its obvious the potential is there. Compare that to how we played in the second half Vs Madrid which was probably the most demoralizing performance. There is so much young talent here and in 4 months we will be a totally different team. There is such a small distance between success and failure in our case its just a lack of familiarity, chemistry and form.

:agree:

It was an unlucky time to have a game with our injuries. Shame, really. Not to mention the suspension to Cuadrado. This forced us to change shape I guess and play a formation we haven't played yet lol

Plenty of positives if you are willing to look in the long run of things.

When did we have a better roster? Last year is probably the only one, and even then we failed to win at home against Sevilla. Since we returned to the CL in 2012, the only first CL games we won were against Malmo and Man City. In this Juve era, we have always struggled in the early group stage.

This squad is much better. Last year we brought on Sturaro and Lemina in a CL final.

We now have guys like Matuidi, Douglas Costa and Bernardeschi. Lots of talent added. With the right ingredients we will make a good cake.. just need some time to make it and let it bake haha

Anyone else really don't care. Granted perhaps it's because I didn't watch the game, but this just doesn't bother me at all considering the circumstances. With a full squad I still believe we are the better squad.

Maybe we're just going in reverse this season, we get the bad loss out of the way in the beginning :hihi:

Just a frustrating game, we were toothless and still managed to control the game in the first. Individual mistakes and switching off at the end of the first killed us.

We have to regroup and smash the Greeks next game, sporting put 3 past them so we have to at least do that. Qualifying gets complicated as it does every year. I think the best we can do, now, is second spot.

Vsing barca this early did not do us any favours but it is what it is.
With a full strength lineup we'd definitely do better. Let's just hope we get to see that full strength team soon. Chiellini is really fundamental in these types of games. Enough with Benatia over Rugani.

We have a better squad than last year for sure, we just need to get consistency in the back line.
I also think Bernie is more ready than Douglas.

People will overreact but we just have to be convincing in our next few games, champions league included.

it's not about stride. they have the best player in history. a player that has had game after game scored goals against top defenders.

their other players were meh. messi was deicding factor.

it's not jsut that. it's not like immobile killed us. it's messi. the est player on the planet. when this guy is in form, he's a killer

Losing is frustrating no excuses but giving Messi space and time to take a shoot wasn't good at all :sergio:
Yea. Our defense, which is supposedly one of our strong points, has taken a beating this season.

Our summer transfer activity:
Defense: downgraded by 40%
(Due to aging chiellini and barzagli, sales of bon and alves)
Midfield: upgraded by 10%
(Due to purchase of matuidi mainly)
Attack: upgraded by 20%
(Due to purchasable of Douglas costa mainly)

Overall, we degraded. But yes, let the young players developed and maybe after some time, they will be good. But, why bring in players like di sciglio?! Even Valencia will be a better fullback.
