We won't face another team that defends like this. We might face superior attacks if we make the knockouts.

On another note, so far the results are similar to last year. We beat the outsider in Turin and we lose away to the group favorite. The outsider beats the dark horses on outsider's pitch. The difference is Olympiacos beat Atletico, while Galatasaray didn't beat Real.

defend like what? did we even test their defense?

Nah it's a lack of creativity

No threat on the wings and absolutely no CAM. Our best players are amazing but not creative bar Pirlo, who should not be relied upon not to mention he's a freaking Regista

One key component of their tactics that sniffled any buildup with had was they immediately pressured Licht and Evra and they forced the ball back to the CBs countless times.

And when the wingbacks did get the ball I didn't see anyone stretching the defense wide to give them an option.

Sorry, I'm pissed about the game.

What saddens me is that I still think we could've won if we wanted to. Our approach of the second half was simply horrible.
I'm pissed too, but that's because I think Atletico were disgusting. Agree about the second half. They had 10 minutes, where they put us under pressure, but then sat back again. We should've invested more in attack.

Their stamina is out of this world. The discipline in their play is admiring. They have excellent footballers, but not world class ones. Their results are about physical preparation and discipline.
When somebody wonders "how can somebody like Aletico" it's because of this. (although their DCs are pretty much WC at this point)

Dirty or not, it's something to admire IMO. They are incredibly organized considering they were a meh team before Simeone took over.

What is there to admire from this atletico team? They are playing their form of catenaccio. It was disgusting watching them, throwing themselves to ground whenever they got the slightest of touches.

We should have done better and I thought we had a good first half, but once the second half began I had a bad feeling. This is probably the worst thing cause now the group is in the balance.

The defense started from Mandzukic, it's not just the 4 guys closest to their keeper. Did it even happen one of our non-defenders to be left one on one against an Atletico player? There were always two of them. And then you expect a Juve player to be free for a pass, you pass to him, and again two guys pop up out of nowhere.
It's nothing new. That's copy/paste from the matches I saw from them last season vs Real, Barca, Milan, Chelsea. And even if you somehow brake the wall in front of their box, their men in the box cleared everything. I'm not sure if we'd get a better result if we had better and more creative players, but with what we had at disposal, it was close to impossible to even test their keeper tonight.
Credit to Atletico. They indeed risked finishing this match 0:0 and find themselves in a very bad position, but as far as nullifying the opponent, they are #1 in the world and they showed that again tonight.

lmao @ the Llorente bashing in this thread. At least he occupied their defenders and tried unlike Tevez who was awful.
