There is a big gap between going and being aggressive and trying to dominate the game and simply sitting deep and looking to soak up pressure.

Juve don't want to drop/get pushed too deep, but at the same time I'd expect them to keep plenty of men behind the ball and look to keep Atletico in safe areas of the pitch rather than really pressing aggressively in midfield to try and win the ball back, which opens up the risk of the midfield being taken out of the game and the defence being left exposed.

Something worth noting, I'm sure everyone has realized this but when we play with evra as lwb, we really play with a back 4. Allegri gives Licht more freedom to go forward and he sort of takes the defensive duties away, so if you think about it there is really no reason we should be affected by the doubling up on the wings, even if the formation is a 3-5-2.

Diego Simeone: A final with Juve

This is a final with Juventus, as are all the games and as the next one will be, Simeone commented to reporters today.

We are a competitive team and I will have many options for tomorrow. The games are all different and depending on the game I will see who will play.

Juventus are a team who have always worked very well, they are a solid team that it is hard to take points from.

Tomorrow we will need to play a game at the highest level in order to bring home the three points. We will see, however, in training tomorrow, to dissolve any doubts [about team selection].

We face Juve with the utmost respect that they deserve as an established team. I like the work done over the years by Juve, we note the great work done behind their victories.

I don’t think that Juve will play on the counter-attack, they will enjoy a lot of space and recover the ball well.

Llorente and Tevez push right to the touchline but they need to feel close to the midfielders. Juve will be expressive.

I have set a very clear viewpoint. If you want to be "elite" or in the top5 , you first need to have gotten there.

Athletico's upgrades are significantly inferior to what they lost. They'll keep doing fine against teams who are far to offensive and poorly balanced, but they wont nearly repeat last season


If they lose against us tomorrow, they will struggle to get out of the groupstage

I have a feeling that we will use the advantage of tevez being marked. If he is marked it will only allow us to draw more players out of position and attack, and this is why I insist on using Morata, because without Tevez, Llorente isn't able to create on his own.

Before appearing in the press room, Simeone confirmed to the cameras of Canal Plus Champions League that Moyà will play on Tuesday night against Juventus: “Moya will play tomorrow, we did not take much time to think about the goalkeeper”. Moyà will leave the bench and make his debut with Atlético Madrid in the Champions League in what will be a real test for Simeone’s side.
