Please drop that argument of them being impossible to score against. They recently conceded three at home to Real and lost 4:0 to BVB. While we have Ronaldo, Mandzukic, Costa, Dybala and Berna to choose from upfront. If they play at good level, they won't have an issue of scoring two goals against them. Plus, we're good in the air (corners) and have elite free kick specialists.

Unfortunately we have not scored a free kick goal this season

What stage would it not be a failure?
I don't know good sir. I was led to believe that with the acquisition of Ronaldo we are in it to win it. Being tossed out in the round of 16 is/was definitely not on the cards. A deep run (semis) is the minimum requirement I guess. It'd also be nice to play some football as opposed to the shit that's been on display lately.

it's atletico madrid. the elimination itself wouldn't be a monumental failure per se. only real madrid was able to beat them in the cl knockouts since simeone took over. they beat barcelona twice, bayern, a great chelsea, allegri's milan (etc) pretty comfortably. one of the best teams of the last 5 years, no two ways about it.

the way we played in the first leg is an other story, it was just SAD.
