Why wouldn't he? He is a professional after all and it's not like he's the most dynamic player that Wenger and the Arsenal team will know his every move. I think this tie is really about Wenger's decision to take Fabregas over Vieira and the huge change in philosphy which is good I think. Wenger has forever been a double-pivot midfield coach and there was a player like Vieira in every Arsenal team right down to youth level that is how much Wenger believed in the system.

Fabregas did not conform to that role and gave Wenger an enormous headache. Playing him with Vieira was not using the captain is the best way somehow. Juventus took Vieira and played him in the role in which he prefers which I find a little startling. Towards the end of last season Wenger found a temporary solution with Fabregas on the right-wing but that was never going to be long-term. This summer HE decided to sell Vieira with this institutional change. Vieira was disappointed so did not join Juventus because it was the club he always wanted to play for - more the best (maybe first) available option for him.

Earlier thi season everyone was saying Arsenal were missing Vieira and he had been the difference. Now after the Real Madrid performance Fabregas is getting the attention he deserves. So how will they match-up head-to-head in this tie? My guess is Vieira will win the battle but ultimately Fabregas will win the war in the years ahead and it will be for the good of football.

I hope you're right!

Platini issues Juve warning Wednesday 15 March, 2006

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Juventus legend Michel Platini has warned his former club to expect a tough Champions League battle against Arsenal.

Although the match is being billed as Patrick Vieira’s return to Highbury, Platini thinks a Delle Alpi flop could come back to haunt his former side.

“Everyone thinks that this match could be easier than one against Lyon or Barcelona, but Arsenal can give Juve a lot of problems,” the Frenchman stated.

“The Gunners have a certain Thierry Henry, who saw Real Madrid off with his goal at the Bernabeu.”

Nevertheless, Platini has conceded that it will take some performance by the London club to knock Fabio Capello’s men out of Europe.

“Capello has charisma and knows when to play his best players and when to rest them,” added the former No 10.

“The strength of this club is that their squad is full of match winners, from David Trezeguet to Alex Del Piero, from Zlatan Ibrahimovic to Adrian Mutu, from Pavel Nedved to Patrick Vieira.

“Juventus are very strong physically, yet they still have a lot of talent. The club and their Coach is what makes them so good.”

While Platini may have some doubts over who will actually triumph in this season’s European Cup, he is sure the Old Lady have done enough to net themselves yet another Scudetto.

“The 0-0 draw with Milan on Sunday was a good result due to the fact that it left Juventus with a 10-point cushion,” he added.

“Knowing Juventus’ spirit as I do, I would say that the job is as good as done when it comes to the Italian Championship.”

I love what Platini has done for our club and all, but I hate these articles. Like when have Platini and Pelé become strategic experts about coaching today's CL competitors and preparing them for match-ups?

I'm going. I'm still waiting on the supporters club to pull through with a ticket, but if that falls through - third-party it is.
Anyone know what London station I should get off on? Closest to Highbury of course.

Arsenal underground and you're virtually there. Word of warning though, when the game ends it's a nightmare as most of the people will be trying to get away using the underground.
