Tactical changes?

I can't remember the last time I saw a significant tactical change from Barca.

They just play more or less the same way all the time, but they are so good, the opposition still can't stop them.
in the CL final Messi was played behind the strikers rather than a WF position which he is usually assigned. That particular match he took advantage of Manures central midfield problems.

As I recall, the formation was kept pretty much the same, but Eto'o and Messi basically swapped positions.

Anyway, my point is that tactically, Guardiola is something of an unknown quantity.

It's all irrelevant, since he won't be leaving Barca any time soon.

Indeed, no way Guardiola has shown much tactically. It was the same way under Rijkaard -- send the boys out on the pitch and let them play. The system, overall, is basically the same one they have been using for a number of years, with only minor individual roles switched in midfield.

As I've said before, if Pep was our manager, most likely we would be facing similar problems as we are now except that Seba would be a starter.

yes definitely he's not a very proven tactician but IMO he;s better than Gullit.
They were werent really swapping positions. Eto'o was often the lone striker during periods of the game

1. You're definitely dreaming

2. The coach has a world class team on paper. If the players are world class and the performances are rubbish, then the players have come down to the coach's level - i.e Rubbish
It can do wonders, weve seen this time and time again from countless teams in europe its not impossible.

Secondly with power comes responsibility its obvious that coaches come with higher expectations than at times than the players themselfs. On our level ciro isnt the only one to blame its everyone, where do we start and who do we get rid of?

As for those ciro bashers, I agree he deserves a stick up the ass but that said if you look at the names linked to take over (zac and scolari) i dont know about you but its worth covering your eyes. :sergio:. All in all the board have done well, lets stick with him till a) either theres a good 'long term' replacement out there or b) he comes back refreshed and so do our boys to turn things around for the better.

I think what Ciro lacks is experience. It's not easy to turn down an offer from a club like Juve but he made the wrong decision (career wise).

There are many problems right now in this club that only an experienced coach can atleast minimize these problems.

I would have thought Scolari would be a decent choice, but after watching his time at Chelsea, I seriously doubt it

At this point, an experienced coach who is just plain mediocre is even a better choice than Zero, tbh

Barca's system worked and will work with any coach since they have a strong technical staff who makes the job of the coach very simple on relative terms. that why they opted for new coaches rather than experienced ones. the experienced coach will try to change the team to fit his style while rijcard and Pep are playing with Barca's style.

what is ciro's style? he doesn't even know since he never coached before. and since the team didn't have a clear style since 2006, he didn't have anything to start from.

what ciro needs now is an assistant coach with experience and clear vision and hopefully him and bettega will steer ciro in the right direction.

Barcas style - is Renius Mechiels's Nederland, so its been there since Cryiff...And its not only the 1st team plays like this, it goes down to there philosophy of play imho.
