Gus Hiddink has not only proven successful with teams lacking quality and needing solely to be pulled together into a solid unit...S. Korea...Australia...What he did at Chelsea last season was immense. They were a shambles. No direction, lacking spirit, drive, determination, but a squad brimming with quality. The changes in tactics he introduced were far from revolutionary, and totally surrounding MAN MANAGEMENT...which goes back to the general thrust of the quoted passages from the Lippi book overview. None of which was surprising, all of which seemed like simply well stated fundamentals. A happy, together team, who plays for each other, for the coach, for the club, is likely to give as much as they possibly can to The Cause...A manager need not read Lippi's book to come across such a basic idea.
I have calmed down a little since Sunday. And whilst I would take Gus Hiddink if possible, as I will believe in the Board, they are likely to give Ciro until the end of the season, or at least well past the current period of darkness. I accept that, and can agree with their reasoning, to a degree. Its just a Risk, turning into a bigger risk by the week. Though...if we are looking unlikely to qualify for the champions league, by January, still faltering, showing no promise or spirit, then I would hope they have the common and business sense to give Ciro the CHOP. Giving the new man time to get us back near the top, at least towards 2nd or 3rd.
Blanc asks for civility. I will give him and his decisions just that...for now. As showing outrage is unlikely to hurt anyone but myself. For now...
so forza ciro...forza juve...
