Time to step it up, and make some changes.

With Marchisio and Del Piero out, and a "Princess Tiaga" wearing glass slippers, we have to deploy 4-2-3-1, simply because we have no options in midfield, and no, fielding Poofson is not an option, nor is relying on a very inexperienced Marrone.

Another option might be a variation of the 4-4-2 with Momo and Sissoko obviously commanding the role of the 2 central/holding midfielders, while De Ceglie and Camo take care of the wings. Diego can act as a seconda punta in this formation, which I am not very much in favor of, but nonetheless, it's a viable option.

using Diego as a SS is not such a bad idea IMO...I say go for a 4 4 2, Melo and Momo in the middle, DC and Camo on the flanks, with Deigo supporting Vinnie or David up front

Ahmed, why are you so averse to deploying the 4-2-31? Are you skeptical about the formation, or do you possess doubts about the ability of the selected players to execute?

I think right now above anything else we need a solid performance, not an eye-catching one...let's be secure at the back first, then we can think about exploiting our creative players

Fair point, but don't you think that with a 4-2-3-1 our defense will gain better protection, and ultimately become less exposed?

having Seba Camo, Diego and Trez/Vinnie on the pitch all at the same time will not help the defensive aspect of the game at all...add to that that Momo is just back from a long term layoff, and Melo is carrying a niggle as well...would be very risky IMO, especially against some pacy Viola wingers

Though i hate it a 4-4-2 formation seems to be the best option....i just hope Ferrara doesnt stick to it, as we dont have 4 creative players in our team for nothing.

For the first time this season i blame Ferrara for the result. We can't win playing that way either in italy or Europe.

PS: Hope Ciro would atleast look at Gio + Diego in a 4-3-2-1 formation rather than that useless 2 strikers formation that can absalutely give no support to Diego upfront.

And, we still haven't seen Giovinco and Diego on the field together. It's crazy.
