Ferrara's first session Tuesday 19 May, 2009

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Ciro Ferrara worked the team hard in his first training session as Juventus Coach and spoke to his players for an hour.

The former defender and current chief of the youth sector was promoted to the bench after Claudio Ranieri’s dismissal on Monday.

He took charge of his first training session today and began with an hour-long conversation with his squad in the locker room.

Present at the discussion were general manager Jean-Claude Blanc and director Alessio Secco, who then stayed on to watch the entire session.

The players did intense physical work on the training ground before taking part in a game between ranks.

Ferrara fielded Vincenzo Iaquinta and Amauri on one team with Alessandro Del Piero and David Trezeguet on the other.

Christian Molinaro and Paolo De Ceglie sat out this match due to minor injuries, so Zdenek Grygera was tested at left-back.

Good news came from Momo Sissoko, who took part in the game and is well on the road to recovery from the fracture in his foot he sustained in March.

Ferrara’s staff consisted of Primavera youth team Coach Massimo Maddaloni, Dodo Sormani, fitness Coach Andrea Scanavino and goalkeeping trainer Michelangelo Rampulla.

The new Juventus squad will make its debut against Siena on Sunday afternoon.
