Here is the Qatar match report:

Juventus dominated much of the game but were unable to convert numerous chances, which left coach Chiarenza Vincenzo disappointed with the results but not with the performance of his players.

“Football is all about creating chances. The players are still young and will learn from the mistakes they make here,” said Vicenzo.

Christian Pasquato and Ayub Daud were outstanding for Juventus in attack but the Italian side lost sting in their game after playmaker Giusseppe Leta was red-carded 20 minutes from time.

Qatar coach Martinus Ruijs felt his boys gave too much space to Juventus in the first half but gave a better account of themselves after the breather.

“Taking a point from a team like Juventus is a good result. At times, you have to be lucky in football,” said Ruijs.

Qatar had a few good breaks after Juventus were reduced to 10 men but Adil Ahmad Ali, with five minutes left on the clock, failed to hit the target from close range.

End of the road for PSG but Barca, Juventus and Qatar still in the running

While keeping their own quarterfinal hopes alive and kicking, Juventus put an end to the dreams of Paris St Germain at the Darulmakmur Stadium here tonight. The

French suffered their second defeat and have become the first casualty of Group B in this year’s Champions Youth Cup.

Barcelona and Qatar, the two other teams in the group, remain in contention after playing out a 1-1 draw in a later match at the same venue tonight. The three teams will now have to wait for their final group games on Monday to decide which teams will advance.

Juventus and Barcelona both have four points apiece while Qatar, who have drawn two matches so far, are third with two points but still in the running for a place in the last eight. Qatar will take on PSG while Juventus and Barcelona square off on Monday.

Alessandro Dantoni was the toast of the Juventus team when he headed the ball in from a corner kick in the 55th minute. PSG keeper Anthony Dauvergne was left stranded as the ball sailed into goal.

In the first half Juventus showed much urgency and created the most chances and came close to scoring in the 10th minute but Christian Pasquato’s freekick hit the upright and went out of play.

After the breather Juventus went out on the hunt and their efforts paid off in the 55th minute.

The second match was a classic with both teams producing some scintillating moves that had the crowd thrilled. Barca committed more players up and not surprisingly took the lead in the 27th minute through Jorge Yepes whose header rebounded off Qatar keeper Mohammed Khamis Al Malki and landed close to his feet. Yepes made no mistake and blasted it home.

With a minute before the break, Qatar managed to even the score through a solo effort from Hasan Khalid Al Haydos.

With the morale boosting equaliser Qatar took the fight to their opponents and kept pushing forward early in the second half and was almost rewarded with a goal but Adil Ahmad Muhammad Ali squandered the chance.

With just seven minutes to the end, Adil missed another golden chance when he collected the ball in the box but failed to find the net again in a one to one encounter with the keeper.

With just five minutes on the clock, the game exploded into an attacking frenzy but it was Qatar who came threateningly close to snatching the winner. After a mammoth battle, both sides had to settle for a draw.

Juventus coach Vincenzo Chiarenza said: “We are very pleased with this win. The PSG players were bigger and it posed some problems but in the end we created chances and managed to score off a corner kick.”

Chiarenza added that his boys played to instructions. “We taught them what they had too do, and that is exactly what they did … I’m very pleased with their performance today,” he said.

PSG coach David Bechkoura admitted that it was a very tough game. “Both teams were about equal and the difference came from a free kick and a corner kick which they managed to convert. Although Partouche’s premature departure from the game affected our style play but we are not looking for excuses. Juventus created more chances and they won the match,” said Bechkoura.

Qatar coach Martinus Ruijs said that their game plan was to play defensively and take the occasional chances to counter attack in the first half. “Barcelona is a tactically sound team and are also fast as such we had no choice but to play defensively. In the second half we pushed forward to get a win but we were just unlucky not to have scored. Against PSG we have no choice but to go for a win and that is exactly what we intend to do,” said Juijs.

Barcelona coach, Alejandro Garcia expressed his surprise at the performance and resistence put up by the Qatar team.“After Qatar equalised the boys became very nervous but in the end we are still in it with a chance to qualify for the quarter-finals and we will go all out against Juventus,” said Garcia.

    Barca to go all out

KUANTAN: Barcelona will hold no punches when they wrap up their Group B fixtures against quarter-final contenders Juventus at the Darulmakmur Stadium here today.

Both teams have four points but the Spanish giants top the group on better goal difference. A draw will be enough for Barcelona to advance but Juventus will have to wait for the outcome of the match between Qatar and Paris St Germain, which will be played simultaneously in Kuala Lumpur.

Qatar have two points and they could pip Juventus on goal difference if they scored a two-goal margin victory over out of contention PSG.

“A draw with Juventus will be enough but we will be out to win the match. There is no question about that,” said Barcelona coach Marc Hueget Cots yesterday.

He added that they had underestimated Qatar and the 1-1 draw on Saturday put them in a tight situation now.

“To be honest, our boys became nervous after Qatar fought back to get the equaliser.

“The match could have gone either way,” said Cots.

Qatar coach Martinus Ruijs said that they adopted a 4-5-1 game plan to neutralise the speed of the Barcelona wingers.

“But against PSG we have to switch to the attacking mode because we need a win to have a chance to qualify for the quarter-finals,” he said.

Qatar, who have two dangerous forwards in their side in Hassan Khalid Haydos and nippy Adil Ahmad Ali, are the surprise package.

They also drew with Juventus (0-0) on Thursday.

PSG were beaten by Barcelona (1-2) and Juventus (0-1) and coach David Bechkoura said that the least they could do was to finish off their campaign on a winning note.

“We will make amends in the last game,” said Bechkoura.

CYC: Barca and Juve through to q-finals

KUANTAN: Barcelona and Juventus booked their Champions Youth Cup quarterfinal berths from Group B after they played to a goalless draw at the Darulmakmur Stadium tonight.

The two teams were assured of their places in the last eight only after Qatar, the other team in the race, could only manage a 1-1 draw against Paris St Germain at the KL Football Stadium in Cheras.

Barcelona and Juventus finished on five points each but the Spanish side finished top on better goal difference.

Draw specialist Qatar finished third on three points. The Middle East side were the surprise package after holding fancied Juventus (0-0) and Barcelona (1-1) in the earlier matches.

It was heartbreak for Qatar who had taken the lead through Hasan Khalid Haydos in the 58th minute to concede a last minute equaliser when PS Germain's Ce'dric Nkoun scored in the dying minutes.

PS Germain finished fourth with only a point to show after losing to Barcelona (1-2) and Juventus (0-1).

Juventus coach Chiarenza Vincenzo said it was an open game and they were fortunate to qualify as Qatar could could have pipped them into the last eight if not for PSG's last minute equaliser.

"Of course, we were aware what was going on on the other side (Cheras Stadium) and it was refreshing to note when PSG had equalised," said Vincenzo.

Barcelona coach Marc Hueget Cots said now that they have qualified for the knockout stages, they were prepared to meet any team next.

"It will get tougher from now on but we are up to the challenge," said Cots.

In Kuantan, it was an evenly contested match as both teams had numerous scoring chances but it was the two goalkeepers who stood out magnificently to deny any goals.

David Alvares could have opened accounts for Barcelona but Juventus keeper Giorgio Merlano pulled off an acrobatic save to deny the thunderous half-volley from 25m out in the 30th minute.

Four minutes later the Juventus keeper Merlano again was up to it when he foiled a try from Thiago Alcantara's bicycle kick.

Juventus had their best chance of the half when Christian Pasquato put Donato Bottone through inside the box but Bottone failed to beat Barcelona keeper Ruben Mino from close range.

Barcelona's Joan Pons Barrera had a good chance after the breather but his powerful shot from close range was again foiled by Juventus keeper Merlano in the 49th minute.

Then, Juventus had a free kick by Christian Pasquato denied by the woodwork in the 53rd minute.

It was an entertaining match but barely 500 fans were at the stadium tonight.

of course they knew what was going on in the other game we told them lol :D

nah anyway just came back from kuantan. you are right bamba and bassaoule played fantastic, and merlano made some nice saves. vecchione, surprisingly had a disappointing game, he was much better vs psg, i think he switched positions no ?

there are millions of pictures we went for their training etc etc and told them to win (we said, "barca, DEAD!!") but barca was tough and i think juve was not calm enough, chiarenza looked pissed. nevermind, what matters is tht we got through, and we must fcking beat inter's ass it's inter for god's sake. (we gave them souvenirs and signed on the malaysian flag with anti inter sentiments, that was before we knew we were gonna meet inter)

oh pasquato likes to roll up his pants when he trains looks like hes just wearing his undies. :|

right so i shall know wt juve is up to tomorrow. they're really nice.

    and cute.

    and nice. :)
