Congrats to the players who came out as champions and gave their all. Beautiful to see Amauri tracking back even if he doesn't have to, in order to help clear the ball from the right back position!

Hopefully this is the start of a run which ends in May with 3 trophies in our locker :D
OMG that was sick yes. I remember a certain part in the game that Molinaro and Salih were going forward, and when Salih played the wall waaay back to the LB, there was Del Piero

Indeed the early game tonight was a big bonus for us and I think it was what made Real perform less than their potential. I would love a win against BATE as I'll be in the stadium but I don't want us to play the game with win as a must, I want us to qualify before.
Yes, it will be much better if we're already qualified but it'll be cool if a win against BATE is a must win for the first place in the group.
The players will be motivated and you won't watch a snorefest.

Mellberg is so unsure of himself, even when being interviewed. He stutters a lot and scratches his face and hair all the time.

Statistics: Horse's goal was the first goal that goes past Chiellini - Mellberg partnership.

He's hoping this win will lead to other wins and he knows there are other tough matches coming. His voice was so shaky though.

I always fear Juventus. I don't care who's missing from their team, or who their manager is. The Old Slutty Lady has made a deal with the devil to always conquer us.

I'll believe we can beat them when I see it.

Champions League, Gp H Matchday 3 - 21/10/08 (19.45 UK) Channel 4

Juventus 2 - 1 Real Madrid

Del Piero 6 (J), Amauri 49 (J), Van Nistelrooy 66 (M)
Stadio Olimpico, Turin

An Alessandro Del Piero stunner and Amauri header brought Juventus back to life by defeating Real Madrid 2-1!

This big match could not come at a worse time for Claudio Ranieri, who was under fire after two points from his last four Serie A games, a 2-2 draw away to BATE Borisov and with an injury list that included Gianluigi Buffon, David Trezeguet, Mauro Camoranesi, Christian Poulsen and Cristiano Zanetti. Olof Mellberg and Vincenzo Iaquinta were only fit for the bench. It was Fabio Cannavaro's first return to Turin since leaving in 2006, although he had never played at the Olimpico before.

Juve had a very aggressive start and Heinze had to dive in to clear Pavel Nedved's cross off the feet of Marco Marchionni.

They broke through moments later with a stunning goal. Amauri flicked the Claudio Marchisio ball back for Del Piero's first-touch powerful right-foot strike from 25 yards! The power of the snapshot stunned Iker Casillas, who was rooted to the spot.

Rafael Van Der Vaart's free kick skimmed the crossbar and Alex Manninger comfortably smothered another attempt from the Dutchman. Another set play was not cleared effectively, but Manninger timed his intervention perfectly to stop Sergio Ramos getting the final touch.

Amauri had a couple of chances, unable to make the most of Zdenek Grygera's cross. There was a new injury when Momo Sissoko accidentally clattered into Marchisio and the youngster was stretchered off in tears, making way for Hasan Salihamidzic and moving Nedved to central midfield.

Casillas plucked a Nedved cross off the head of Amauri from seven yards. However, Nicola Legrottaglie also suffered a relapse of his injury and was replaced by the not 100 per cent fit Olof Mellberg at the break.

Straight after the restart, Amauri doubled Juve's advantage in Turin! Nedved intercepted a weak pass down the left channel and crossed to the six-yard box for Amauri's header, which took a deflection off Heinze to leave Casillas stranded.

Real tried to fight back, mainly in the air, as headers from Van Der Vaart and Arjen Robben skimmed the frame of the goal. Manninger's palms were stung by a sudden Wesley Sneijder rocket from 25 metres, as Robben's introduction for Higuain revived the Spaniards.

Sneijder was repeatedly trying to test Manninger from distance and hit the base of the far post on the hour mark with a right-foot screamer.

A Van Der Vaart free kick was punched away by Manninger, as Real turned up the pressure. It eventually paid off, as a cross from the left found Ruud Van Nistelrooy's header into the ground. He was left far too much space for a totally free header from six yards.

However, less than 60 seconds later it was almost 3-1 for Juve. Salihamidzic skipped past Cannavaro down the right and his cross only grazed Amauri's head, then Sergio Ramos managed to clear under siege from two Bianconeri shirts.

A low Del Piero free kick was comfortably held, then Amauri went on a fine run, but went for glory rather than passing to the captain and was closed down.

Vincenzo Iaquinta came off the bench for Amari after an injury lay-off and Dutchman Drenthe replaced Van Der Vaart. Mellberg smartly intercepted a Robben low pass for Van Nistelrooy as Madrid again poured forward in a desperate attempt to avoid defeat.

In stoppages Marchionni's foul gave Real a very dangerous free kick, but both Sneijder's attempt and Robben's follow-up were off target.

Juventus: Manninger; Grygera, Legrottaglie (Mellberg 46), Chiellini, Molinaro; Marchionni, Sissoko, Marchisio (Salihamidzic 37), Nedved; Amauri (Iaquinta 78), Del Piero

Real Madrid: Casillas; Sergio Ramos, Pepe, Cannavaro, Heinze; Van Der Vaart (Drenthe 76), Gago, Sneijder; Raul, Van Nistelrooy, Higuain (Robben 54)

I like this scenario too, being qualified but playing to top the group.

By the way, if the news I am getting from Genova are right, I have some nice surprises for everyone here after my trip.

Salihamidzic rarely ownes someone and the guy he completely owned tonight (before he sent that high cross in Real's box) was no-one else but Cannavaro.
Canna had a bad match, imo.

Excuse me Jack, I just love your avatar too much to let you have it by yourself :touched: :star:
It's fine, I change avatar after every match but the problem is I will miss the derby as I'll be in Copenhagen. So we have to live with it until after the return against Madrid.

How would you feel when all those crazy tifosi scream like hell the whole game and finally when you win, they dont only sound like hell but they are the hell.
I'd be shaking months after that if somebody asked me about the game and we won.
Probably the biggest game in his career?

After a month of diappointing and frustrating draws and defeats to inferior sides. We finally come out on top, none the less against Real Madrid. This is just one of these games where the players were giving it their all, everyone defended, everyone was disciplined, everyone had the Juventus spirit pumped back into them again.

It was refreshing to see Sissoko's inch perfect tackles again, his tireless determination, his colossal presence in the middle.

It was rejuvenating to see Molinaro playing like a footballer. If only he played every game this well, we might have a decent player in our hands.

It was beautiful to see that after all those years, Pavel Nedved still has that unmatchable commitment and dedication for Juve.

It was great to see Chiellini putting out another one of his monstrous performances aganst a European giant.

It was beautiful to see Amauri man handle Real's defense, and fight for every ball and ever tackle.

It was wondeful to see our club symbol, legend, and captain show the world his magic. What a goal! If he has a trend for scoring only beautiful goals, I won't be complaining. I think, along with Amauri, I was most impressed by him. The way the two helped out in defense and never stopped running was beautiful.

It was nice to see Ranieri getting it right for once. We had a more than decent defence that was able to put Real's attack at bay for most of the game. For once, the man showed some care and emotion. He looked like he was trying to his job.

I think we all deserve this win, and I think it means a lot to all of us Juve fans and players. We waited patiently in that dark serie B season, we waited again last season. Finally, we make it to the C.L and we beat our long time rivals to top the group. We have waited long enough for such encounters, finally they have come.

I hope this is a sign of our comeback. The players seem more compact and united and it couldn't have come at a better time. Hopefully, we carry on with this attitude.

Congrats everyone. Our embarrasing month is now behind us. We look forward to a new Ranieri, a new Juve.

Cannavaro's look seconds before the whistle was priceless. I am sure for a moment he regretted the move he did.

Now if we can win the derby, the players will be very motivated to do better and mentally they will improve and gain back the determination factor of last year, then our injured players will start recovering and things will be better. That's a perfect scenario, hoping that this injury madness stops, I mean every game at least one player is injured
