Yeah Messi being more complete means fuck all for instance, there's nobody as clutch and efficient as Ronaldo in big games. Greatest difference maker of this generation
It's an overrated and overblown argument. And it doesn't mean much. They say it because the see Messi is better running with the ball at his feet and at being involved in build-up plays further from the goal.

When people make this argument they ignore everything incredible about Ronaldo's game aside from goalscoring, like afghan calling him only a poacher. He has some of the best off-ball movement in the history of the game, he constantly manages to lose his defender and literally end up in the perfect spot to get on the end of crosses, long-balls, through balls, etc. He also has the most assists in CL history, which should be an obvious point to the fact he isn't just a poacher.

I can blame Rugani's situation on Allegri though. If he's shit let him go. If he has potential then play him more to develop that potential.

He's going to play close to 2000 minutes this season... While Allegri likely should have chosen him over Barza yesterday, he's not a starter over Chiellini or Benatia yet. 2000 minutes is fantastic for a 3rd choice CB.

Messi’s assists are better though

For a club with unlimited money City do have soem shitty depth. Guardiola so stubborn, arguably only two strikers in the squad :baus:

How many years till he reached that many minutes? iirc Barza started over him in our first match vs Barca this season too.
2000 minutes against Benevento and Verona is not enough. He needs to start against better teams too.

And it's worth noting Rugani's style of defending needs maturity. He rely mostly on reading the game and being a step ahead of his opponent. Takes tiem to translate that to the highest level.

That said I think he is playing too little, but I'm also a big fan of his type of defender. Classic italian professor type.

As in, prettier? Cause Ronaldo assists more in CL. ;)
Watch videos of Ronaldo’s assists, most are simple passes to the man next to him. Messi sends the ball through 15 other players for a Suarez 1v1. Not to mention all his preassists and goals created. Then the pass completition %, not a contest really

He's played 90 minutes this year against Barcelona (0-0), AC Milan (2-0), Fiorentina (1-0), Sampdoria (2-3), Torino (2-0), Lazio (1-0). These are all upper table teams. I don't get what your point is? We have two better CBs in Chiellini and Benatia. Rugani is our 3rd best CB and won't nor should he be our starter in most big games if those two are healthy and in form.

Unless he is tested in Europe how do we know whether he belongs to this level or is another overated Italian
