Just watched the highlights of the Barcelona - Chelsea match. Willian looks really good, he seemed like their most dangerous player judging from the highlights. Courtois really took a nosedive, that's a shame. Also no idea why Conte decided to bench Morata, I feel like that was a really poor decision considering how he normally performs in the competition.

@Hist

No offence dude, but do you see what we mean now?
Settle down. Not long ago we also played Barca home and away. Allegry too did have a break down after the home match against spurs.
Conte put this Chelsea side in a position to advance as best he could. He's right about the quality of his squad.

I put them in three tiers

Tier 1: The favourites

City, Real and Barcelona

Tier 2: The past our prime, but we have so much f´n experience clubs accompanied by the dangerous floater.

Juve, Bayern and Liverpool

Tier 3: This year Europa League looks really tough

Sevilla and Roma

I got nothing :boh:

Glad about that Istanbul win, not the most easy place as the away team.

Conte put himself in this bad situation in the first place, he couldn't even finish ahead Roma. His fault.

As for Allegri, he proved himself against big teams already so you cannot compare the two.

How good are City in your opinion?
Pretty damn good. They're on course to break records (or have already broken them this season) for:

Most points; most wins; biggest goal diff; most away wins; most goals; most away goals; biggest title winning margin; earliest PL win. Whatever anyone thinks about the PL, they must be very, very good to do that!

Having said this ... whereas there's an air of invincibility about them, amongst other PL teams this season, that won't carry over into the CL. They're winning games here before a ball is even kicked as their opponents just seem to think a defeat is inevitable. The CL sides with pedigree won't see it that way. Teams like Chelsea and Arsenal (*cough*) and downwards, i.e. the 'non-top 4' have played them with fear. Liverpool are too stupid to fear anyone and they can't defend, so they just went for it, and maybe that's the way?

City are also the only team to walk all over us this season. If that's anything to help gauge their level. We just couldn't maintain any possession at all, and that is very unusual for our midfield. We're capable of losing close games, but it's not often we get thrashed.

I'd have them as clear favourites against Seville and Roma - but wouldn't like to say how they'd fare against the rest. And I'm no expert on continental football either. So take that with a pinch of salt. Time will tell.

I'm not questioning Allegry, I'm highlighting the "proven" coaches also have their moments. In fact Barca away, Spurs home and away up until subs all have been tactical fuck ups by Allegry. Let's not get carried away.
Roma are not in the race this year but on their day they can match-up. They smashed napoli in a way that may have ended their season.

That's something some here still refuse to understand after our record breaking season.

Willian was the stand out performer in boths legs for Chelsea. Quite a difference with Hazard which was no where to be seen.

Was amused, but not pleased, at Utd going out.

Am absolutely delighted that Chelsea have gone! All that Russian money and still only London's 4th most popular club.
How is the rivalry between Spurs and Chelsea? I know it doesn't compare with Arsenal, but still does it exist?

We absolutely despise each other. The dislike of Arsenal is territorial. The dislike of Chelsea is based on almost every other factor you could imagine (I could write a list but it'd take too long).

Whilst Wenger is slowly turning Arsenal into a joke. Chelsea are becoming the #1 team we want to beat, and certainly vice versa.
