Overall, there was no incredibly dodgy refereeing in this game. There were mistakes but those mistakes alone wouldnt have influenced the whole tie. Had we not gone through and had some Tuzzer here said that we lost because of refs, i would've been ashamed honestly. What is over is over now. We are through and just move on. Smaller teams always find excuses when they lose.

Poch's a micro-manager obsessed with the principles of marginal gains. He's also still not fully articulate in English.

This is more a critique of his own club. Not a dig at Juve. He's highlighting that the really big clubs (Utd, Barca, Real, Bayern, Juve) have a certain approach and attitude. And that maybe we can be learning from that. You can tell by his tone and body language that that's his angle here. He sees an opportunity for improvement, not any injustice.

Given that this man openly admits to there being a difference between 'trickery' and 'cheating' (when asked about diving) and who hates VAR with a passion, you can be certain that he's a person who is quite happy to exploit every possible advantage. He's also not stupid, and will be extremely aware that the media will put their own spin on this - and if that placates the other set of Spurs fans who want to find injustice, then they're sated too.

P.S. @Monty. Apologies about before. Misunderstanding. We're cool.
I agree. I didn't see it as a dig.regardless of how the media try to spin it

Well having played football from my own experience I would never stamp again like that

If you want to avoid a second stamp you will not put your weight back down on the foot that is planted on him again

For me it's a 100% red card as it can easily be avoided that second stamp and he didn't do it
I just don't see the second as a stamp. His foot never even fully leaves the ground, he goes up on his forefoot which takes the heel slightly off Son, and then the heel drops down as he tries to catch his balance and maneuver around Son's other leg in the air. Add to that he never once looks at Son and is trying to follow and get back in the play.

We all played futbol here at some point. Just different opinions on this one. I'd call that a 50/50 decision. Ref probably decided it was unintentional. And unless UEFA retroactively punishes Barza they see it is an unintentional too.

Either opinion is fair enough I'd say.

:agree: Son should have been sent off for kicking towards Barza's genital area.
:lol2:

Have I told you that I love you? :klin:

Seems I've misread the room. I didn't think these forums were designed as an echo chamber of perfectly aligned views, and that you welcomed the different perspective of fans from other clubs. I'll let myself out.
Oh you have no idea... then again its a football forum so you shouldn't have had high expectations :)

What he is doing is cute. He is using our past reputation and history of scandal (particularly with UK viewers who know next to nothing about Italian "scandals" other than final sentencing) to garner support for the same "mysterious forces" that started things like Calciopoli, without directly accusing it of being any kind of fixing. It's the old "big institution", "UEFA favourite" talk that clubs of smaller history use, it's just that Juventus are a great sounding board because of what I stated above.

So in short, $#@! him. Lazy, excuse-finding. Try learning how to get a back four standing in a line maybe.
Spot on.

Let's be honest here, the guy was just finding excuses and there's nothing else to debate from it.

-----------------

About the Barzagli stamp, in my opinion there's nothing even close to a 'red card' to it, at first he really wasn't aware he was stamping him after which he was trying to move away from there with his attention towards the game while Son has put his leg up in an attempt to get back at Barza, whereas again Barza was just shaking the koreean off barelly touching him, nothing melodramatic as both players showed some intent, for example under VAR that would be at most a yellow card for each player...

IMO, idk what we even debating this for lmao.

Wow, my opinion of Poch has dropped to a new low. I thought he was a classy guy, but apparently not.
And just a few weeks back, when asked about Dele Alli's diving antics, he said this:

...When you do tactics, it is to try to trick the opponent. You play on the right, but you finish on the left. Twenty years ago, thirty years ago, we all congratulated a player when he tricks the referee like this. That is the football that I was in love with.

Ok after watching this, i dont see anything wrong in what he said. He is not moaning about us putting pressure on refs because every big club does in honesty. He wants Tottenham to have the same kind of hunger and passion to win. The comment about Agnelli being in the tunnel is to imply how closely-knit we are connected as a group from the management to the players and perhaps he wants to see that in Spurs if they are to make that step up to becoming a top club.
Fucking thank you.

The Barzagli one I don't agree with, there's more chance of Mother Teresa deliberately stamping on someone. They got their legs tangled and eventually it led to Barza standing on his leg. If you watch the video Son actually flicks his leg out at him when he initially hits the ground, and I don't think Barza is even looking at Son at any point until he realises he has hurt him.

Might look bad and be painful but players also don't defy gravity.

I think it was intentional.

$#@!ing thank you.

I honestly think you might be missing the big picture on this one, nobody ever brings up Juve and their influence on referees in the media just to suddenly 'praise' Juventus, most especially after they lost their 'make or break' game of the season against them just a few days prior. If anything, you can certainly believe that... ;)

Anyway, on this occasion my opinion for one has nothing to do with media clickbaits, we could all see the original video interview posted even in this thread, it's open for interpretations obviously but i'll stick to my previously stated point of view on this one.
