Let's clear up the misinformation... from UEFA's site:

Exceptionally, all yellow cards and pending yellow-card suspensions expire oncompletion of the play-offs. They are not carried forward to the group stage. Inaddition, all yellow cards expire on completion of the quarter-finals. They are notcarried forward to the semi-finals

Can you post a link to the rules? Because a lot of peeps are bothering me with this question and some insists the cards remain

Boys what's wrong with you? It's very simple, yellow cards are erased in the semi finals if the player was one yellow away from susp. But Khedira for instance picked up his 2nd yellow vs Barcelona and therefore misses the match. If you are not suspended and have a yellow, it restarts to zero in the semi final.

you make a hard foul - yellow. get mad at the ref - yellow. kick the ball after the whistle - yellow. GK stealing time on the goal kick - yellow. but not to forget, 2 yellows in one match also means a red card, so we need to be careful with this
