Real seems to be massively underrated on this forum you mean. They haven't lost in nearly 40 games whilst not playing well, sound like anyone familiar?
This is excactly it. They are racking up results at least in La Liga, without playing well. Just like us in Seria A. Either they are going to kick into second gear soon and they are going to be hard for anybody to handle, or they are going to run out of luck, in which case a team like Napoli, which are an European subelite team under Sarri, has a good chance of surprising them.
With Real, Bayern, Barca, Juve, PSG all being far from their best this year, there is a good year that this could be a year without all the usual suspects making it through to the SF.

Real have had plenty of good games. But they are also grinding out results when things dont go well. It wasnt long ago when Ronaldo netted his hatrick against ATM. Dont compare them to our ugly football. They actually have a functioning midfield that can build up play and combine with the attackers. Real are more scary than barca this season imo.

Barca are better when everything clicks but they are inconsistent. Real get the result when things click and when things dont.

Im pretty sure in 2 months time we will be playing great football too. Our midfield problems is one thing but its also clear that Allegri prepared team for the CL knock out stage. Two last games were already quite good and I think it can only be better.
Right now almost all of the top teams are not playing to their potential, just look at Barca, Bayern or Manu*.
Hopefully by then we will be also playing 4312 by standard, switching to 352 when it fits then opponent.

Sucks we can get Real, cause in my opinion they look like the most stable team in Europe at the moment. A good draw will be avoiding Real and Bayern i guess.
:baus:

They most likely won't eliminate Real. However, them playing at home for the return leg is big as they are scary at he San Paolo.
Didn't they lose against Besiktas at home?
::lol3::

Hope we've learnt our lesson from that game.
Sure. :D

The game directly before is Palermo at home, so there is massive scope for resting players there. For the return (home) fixture we have Milan at home a few days before. Let's hope they are well behind us at that point.

Just the kind of team that could beat us 4 years ago imo
ftfy

i do think the club and the players learned a lot during the last couple of years. when was the last time we lost an international game against a weaker side? it's gotta be the away olympiacos game i guess. and that was one of allegri's first cl matches with us.

We got one of our best options and IMO there's no any doubt of that but

I could see Max watching Porto-Roma a few times with all those physical, rude and whinning behavior from Porto and playing away a team with pure muscle and zero creativity just thinking our technical level is enough to break them in some point (we all agree this but the struggling is quite annoying). If everyone is available I could see a team with Evra, Asamoah, Sturaro in the field at the same time

I think we are still very hard to beat. And despite lacking chemistry between midfielders and the midfield with the attack, we still manage to score goals while being very strong at the back. We are still not as good as we used to be but we have enough talent to be almost equally nasty to play against. My disappointment is that this squad could be playing at a much higher level but it isnt. I see marchisio already improving our team play but we have the potential for much more. We regressed slightly when we should take a leap forward. That is what upsets me.

As for our competitors I think Real improved and look the most solid to me. On a good day they are lethal and on a bad day they grind out a result.

Bayern have regressed in terms of consistency. Barca has regressed a lot in consistency. They are still very lethal on their good day (better than anyone else) but their good days are less often. ATM has regressed in consistency (not in the CL though) while PSG are about the same despite a slow start to the season. Arsenal has improved but are no title contenders.
