Italian teams have been a bit unlucky with these draws recently. You would have fancied them to beat Ajax. Porto will be very difficult.

I also suspect because the Italian season tends to start a little later, the Italian teams are behind on their preparation. I really hope Roma make it. While we make more $ in TV rights from Champions league if they are knocked out....in the long run its better if we can get enough coefficients to pip the English and get that 4th champions league spot.
Roma should be able to beat Porto if we are banking on them to help with the coefficients,, the draw could've been much much worse (City or Villareal), but imagine Serie A winning back the 4th seat this year with the help of a Juve CL win:heart:, and Manchester union finish fourth and Pogba plays in the Europa league twice in a row :D

Thats only possible if an EPL team that finishes 5th or lower in the league wins the CL and United finishes 4th.

no it's also possible if we overtake them in the coefficients this season
Even if Italy did overtake England, it wouldn't matter till 2018-2019 season, I believe.

also

no Roma in CL = more money for Juventus

therefore, Forza Porto

I don't see Roma beating Porto, which is sad for Italy but that's a ton more money for Juve.
Roma have a much better side than Porto though.

:agree: Exactly, like Steaua Bucuresti.

If Roma can't beat Porto they are not worthy of the CL in the first place. I'd be surprised if they don't go through though.

Exactly. The only reason they might lose is that they're Roma and they're used to losing.

I agree but they don't always step up in these kinds of games IMO. Porto are more accustomed to Europe I think

If Roma lose to Porto they could get more coefficient points for Serie A against weaker completion in the EL and Juve would get more CL money. Everyone wins right? :shifty:

So apparently, according to Carlo Laudisa, from 2018 UEFA will give four CL spots to the top 4 countries. Huge news for Serie A if true.

Looks like UEFA are scared of the EPL losing the fourth spot in the next season or so though :D

Fuck was hoping united would barely cut it top 4, only to loose the 4th spot because we won the treble.
