Interesting thing on whoscored:
Real Madrid vs Italian teams in knockout stage
Only won against Roma last year.. Lost everything before that all the way to 1988:
Milan in 88 and 89
Juventus in 95, 02, 04
Roma in 07
Juventus in 14

:D

How would we fare against this PSG?

A lot of drive from rightback Meunier pushing their team forward and creating the extra man for them. He'd face Mandzukic. Crucial battle probably.
Their midfield functions better than ours, and has a a man extra. With also Di Maria coming back and going centrally. Also a more healthy physical mix, Matuidi and Rabiot looked very functional. Lots of players who arent afraid to move up and down the pitch. We'd have to play around it probably.
Chiellini versus Cavani. Draxler not so worried about.

Most worried about us against their midfield.

It'll be interesting to see if this duopoly finally ends, there's certainly a good chance for someone else snatching it this year.

Not sure who the frontrunners are at the moment. Perhaps someone who is in the CL winning team has a good chance as there are no major summer competitions.

If Higuain leads us to CL glory, finishing with good amount of goals in Serie A and CL and Juventus wins tripletta, I see no reason why he shouldn't win Ballon d'Or.
Or Buffon, if he has legendary games like against Lyon and finally wins that CL also would deserve. He already came close in 2006

Another good news for those trying to dethrone Messi and Ronaldo is the fact that neither of the two is scoring as much as they used to domestically. Even when they wouldn't win the CL, they'd score 40, 45 or 50 goals in the league (Ronaldo scored 48 in 14/15, Messi scored 50 in 2011/12). It was impossible to fight against that.
This year both are struggling with the goals in La Liga. Messi has 17, Ronaldo 14. Even guys like Dzeko score more than them nowdays. An elimination of Barca and Real before the CL final, and it will be right to expect a new name winning ballon d'or. And it's time, I guess. It's been Messi and Ronaldo ever since Kaka won it in 2007.

Buffon winning it would be great.

I think we'd do well. PSG are a great side, but they also depend on their physicality. We can more than match them in that regard.
