True that, the young prodigies brought in during Moggi's period were world beaters
As much as I despise what he and the triade did to his squad, the one thing that you cannot take away from him was his eye for young talent.

Which makes it even more disgusting that he had to resort to those tactics, when the team on the field was good enough to win in the first place.

Still it makes no sense to have a coach that built the youth academy and have a club promote him to senior team and be ok with watching its long term investments worth millions be wasted.
How has Ferrara wasted our youth or is so insanely anti youth already, barely 2 months into the season? I like Giovinco ALOT like most of you, and like to see him play more, but its more a personnel/tactical thing then Ciro being anti-youth coach. Lets not get carried away here, its ridicolous to come to such conclusions.

i'm not saying that he is anti-youth.

what I am saying is that the lack of homegrown products on the field speaks volumes for the talent of the primavera squads.

Or should I say, the lack thereof

And wheer is Ekdal? On Loan. Cacers is on loan from Barca and he is 22, not 19.and I don't even know where the other kid is.

The point is though, is that Juve in the past bought young players at a young age, and they played right away, not sent on loan for 3 years. Can you imagine if that happened with Del Piero or Tacchinardi??
I generally agree with you in this point. But I see them getting there slowly, as in having a core young part of the squad already in Chiellin (24), Caceres (22), DC 23 (though Caceres and DC I dont see lasting long in the club), Marchisio (23), Momo(24), Melo (25-26), Diego (24) and Giovinco 22. Its a fairly good start.

And one can mention fringe choices like Ariuado and Marrone too if you like, who are 20 and 19 (but not really "part" of the squad), Marrone in particular I can see taking similar path of Marchisio.

I see your point and totally agree, but it hasnt been a bad start in this regard, a quite good core of youngish players already.

Wow. It truly is dissapointing. But we have two bright young talents in Marchisio and Giovinco. Let's just hope we don't ruin their careers by not having faith in them, especially Giovinco.

It takes eons to produce. And I ain't keen on Molinaro and De Ceglie. But Marchisio and Giovinco are working for me. Not only that, they save us a bundle.
Then if Marchisio and Giovinco are "working for you",does that mean that your expectations of what this youth system are able to produce have been lowered?

And I'm not trying to take anything away from either one of those two, but considering the prestige of this club, would you consider either one to be "Franchise Players"??

Marchisio has been getting regular playing time. Once we settle down in the league and the CL, Ciro might be willing to take a few risks in tactics and bring on the youngsters. But for now he is playing it safe, a bit Ranieri-esque, but necessary... And right now isn't the time to throw the kitchen sink in either, we have a lot of time to go till the end of the season.. Branding Ciro anti-youth already would be stupid and illogical...

And oh, we don't have talent like Balotelli, Pato and Santon in our youth squad...

Someone onthis forum, I think it was Zlatan that said

"Stars don't make Juve. Juve make Stars"

I long for those days when youth was served for this club. I really do.

That being said, I truly enjoy having these types of constructive debates without having anyone resort to mindless name calling

Well all our young players can't be good enough to make it, but Marchisio has made it as far as I am concerned, and Giovinco has all the talent to. De Ceglie, maybe not. Marrone looks very mature for his age and could also be a gem. Daud maybe not, but then Giuseppe Giovinco and the very impressive Immobile maybe. It's all about giving them chances.

As you pointed out, Juve make stars. It is the same for any young player coming into a massive team, if they can make the cut they are destined to become a star by default.

I find it strange people talk about us not playing young players, are Marchisio, De Ceglie and Giovinco not young players? What about Luca Marrone?

Now, of those young players, who has deserved to keep a place based on their performances? Marchisio only. Who plays regularly? Marchisio. When Giovinco and De Ceglie prove they are good enough to start they will start more regularly. They have had chances but are inconsistent, so their appearances will remain inconsistent.

Marchisio is 23(24 in 2 months time). He is hardly a youngster. Only in Italy is a 23 year old considered a youngster.
