You say hes had a bad season? Yet you make no mention of him playing for a team in absolute turmoil who have had to battle to not get relegated this season...
Could he have really had a majestic season this year when playing for a roma squad in complete dissaray... I think not !
Has he really been that bad ?
Well lets compare him to our current flavour of the month (not mine but thats another story).... Zlatan
For a start ,who has been awarded more official MOM trophies this season ? Cassano
A few basic stats ::
Minutes played : Cassano = 2552 ,Zlatan = 2760
Goals : Cassano = 9 ,Zlatan = 16
Assists : Cassano = 8 , Zlatan = 6
Shots : Cassano = 51 ,Zlatan = 126
Accuracy : Cassano = 47% , Zlatan = 41%
Goals to shots : Cassano = 17.7%, Zlatan = 12.7%
Successful Crosses : Cassano = 20, Zlatan = 9
Passes : Cassano = 1110, Zlatan = 929
Pass Accuracy : Cassano = 64.2%, Zlatan = 64.2%
Interceptions : Cassano = 103 , Zlatan = 110
Successful Interceptions : Cassano = 66%, Zlatan = 38%
Offsides : Cassano = 21 , Zlatan = 35
Doesnt look so bad to me !!
Especially when you take into account the performances of each team this season and Romas internal issues... Its a helluva lot easier to perform in front of a quality organised side who in the most part are calm than in front of a shambolic side with many personal problems and the magic roundabout of roma managers this season.... So to me Cassanos performances this season stand up very well and of course with less playing time than zlatan.
Cassano is a Top quality player who has done well in very dificult circumstances this season.... We all know how good he is when he gets it togeather for roma... How good can he be playing in an organised juve side ? ... The sky is the limit... This guy has all the tools to be very special indeed!!
You talk about his attitude... Again you fail too mention the situation at roma over the last few years... Its a club out of control, an enviroment that breeds this kind of behaviour....
Capello Calmed him alot in his time at roma (he has come apart abit since then ) ... I have no doubt with the change in atmosphere and philosophy at juve , With or without capello, Cassano will become a great servant of our club.
You also have to look at not jus the difference between roma and juve but also the difference between torino and roma... Its a whole different world...
Roma like its team breeds a certain attitude... Torino (and northern cities in general) are much different...
Jus livin in torino will make a massive difference to Cassanos behaviour!
I also find this talk about his attitude somewhat hypocritical.. when you look at some of our players over the years... Esp Montero and Davids in recent times (on and off the pitch)...
Also look at Zlatans record before he arrived here... Many people were saying similar things about him as they are about cassano now... He hasnt turned out so bad...
Now we all know Cassano has had the odd training ground scuffle... but i dont remember hearing of him ever trying to physically injure his team mates during training matches... The same cannot be said for zlatan whilst at ajax.
If we also look at Cassano's Disciplinary record on the pitch this season... I dont see it as bad at all.... Again we will compare him to zlatan (whose card count many would say was very 'lucky' to be so low)
Yellow Cards : Cassano = 7, Zlatan = 4
Red Cards : Cassano = 1, Zlatan = 0
Fouls Committed : Cassano = 35, Zlatan = 116
Fouls Received : Cassano = 124, Zlatan = 70
So when comparing the two... IS cassano's record really worse than zlatans ?
I dont think so.... I discount the red as it was only one... and everyone getssent off once in a while...
He has 3 extra yellows , but then he was fouled allmost twice as many times as zlatan.
Cassano also committed about a quarter of the fouls zlatan did... So to me if anything i would favour Cassano's record this term
Another thing is that one extra thing that Cassano has... He is one player who can follow platini, baggio and del piero in becoming the symbol of juve... Something the likes of zlatan, trez and even nedved will never be to the fans in Scirea.
Not too mention that reportedly we can get him for a mere 11 mil (which even in our current financial state can be covered by those allready leaving with pennies to spare)
So again I say :

Paul, one thing I noticed in your retort was the mention that Zlatan, Trez, or Nedved would never be the symbol in the hearts and minds of La Curva Scirea.
Would that have anything to do with the fact that neither of the three are Italian?
Just a thought. Although, personally, I feel that Zlatan COULD be the new symbol of Juve. In my opinion as an outsider, I see the reason he hasn't been embraced is because he is a direct threat to the future of Del Piero.

From every point of view, the Cassano issue is a must for Giraudo, Moggi and Co. : he is young....he is italian...he is a genius...and he will not be so expensive.Lets check the scenarios :
1- Cassano comes and....makes it big.- If Antonio comes and suits in the team leaving his ROMAMERDA attitude and develops his real skill and potential with us, then is an everybody wins situation that could give our team that edge to become a major force in European fooltball for years to come.Lets face it, he is most talented young italian player at the moment.
2-. Cassano comes and ...give us trouble. This is improbable, as he isnt so stupid to know that to fail at Torino would seriously affect his career and future. But if that happens, then we sell him and im shure with enough profit to call this a shure imvestment.
3- Cassano comes and makes it big...but give us trouble. Then we will chance to capitalize him selling the boy to Merdrid, Manure or chelski for a big sum.
This is not a high risk situation...its OK if they bring him...

Actually, in watching the Coppa, I had something of the opposite experience than Vinnie had. Knowing Cassano and his Cassanate, there were a few moments of combat in the game where I expected him to entirely lose it -- and yet he did not. And with a crap coach like Conti, I have to say that I think Cassano has actually matured some over the past season. In fact, I would say he's far more mature than the captain of his squad. 
Do we need him? I don't think so. But I also know that Capello is one of the few coaches who is capable of getting the most out of Cassano ... whereas someone like Conti leaves him sitting in a pile of his own feces. (I also credit Capello for being the reason why Zlatan wasn't as much of a cry baby as I expected him to be when joining our squad.) So I think a Cassano trade could be very productive for Juve, but that entirely depends on who is the coach while he's here.
