You don't know if we are or aren't signing anyone for defense though? Just because we are trying to sign Tevez doesn't mean we aren't signing anyone for the defense either.

I don't see how we can't complete our attack and patch up a hole in defense.

We aren't Man City or Real Madrid. If we spunk 30M (as well as crazy wages for this guy) forget about us signing a quality CB and LB. It will (yet again) be cheap, stop gap solutions again IMO.
