I never said he's better than DP. I compared finishing of those 2 and I simply find that Tevez has better finish. Just my thoughts.

how the fuck is the guy who has only 6 goals in CL a better finisher than Del Piero?
DP probably scored more with his left foot than Tevez in his entire career (and I'm not even being funny).

Love them both, but please don't post crazy shit like that again.

In all honesty Tevez is better finisher.
He might not be a fancy dribbler, but he has a good ball control and when one on one with an opponent he will pass it, be it speed a feint or just pure streanght and determination :)

I agree, passing isn't his strong point, but I imagine him working with a partner for one twos near or around the penalty box, and with his movement and natural understanding of the game I think he is more then good enough for the way he plays.

Dunno, I would put DP ahead on that, but not by a lot. Oh and don't get into the DP discussion with chessio. If you're smart enough you won't get in any discussion with him at all though.

Working like a charm ;)

The DP topic is such a bore in here, it's as if someoen mentions DP is not the best in anything it's always a hostile rection.

No, he just mentioned one aspect of DP game which he feels is a bit worse then Tevez(which is debatable) and his idea got called batshit crazy. If that's not biased then I don't know what is.

because he didn't base his so called opinion/feel on anything. Maybe because there isn't something to base it on.
This is one of rare occasions where stats just provide the answer. If Tevez was indeed a better finisher, he would fuckin score more. Simple, no bias, no nothing.

More games, free kicks, penalties, etc... But not the point. What makes one a better finisher? Obviously his shooting technique, instinct, but when the two disagree the best way would be to look at the games/goal ratio. In both cases since they played more than 400 games, it's comparable.

So here only at the club level:

Tevez 461/201 - 0,43
Del Pero 748/308 - 0,41

Consider that Tevez didn't take that many free kicks or penalties during his career.

Oh my GOD, cannot be true?!

Waiting for some really interesting excuse, after

And the answer... I'm disapoint.

Hey man, if he had such a great technique he would take penalties and freekicks. Those are included in finishing.

ADP is the bette shooter with both legs, Ale's left is dynamite le alone his right, the only thing you could argue for Tevez is the power but he has nowhere the precision, the curle of Ale.
Very few have this. He was rather unique. Goal vs Monaco always springs to my mind.

why not include the level of competition into stats then? One was playing in South America and England the other against toughest defences in a team with limited creativity in latter years. One scored 5 times more goals in CL, despite of missing out a lot of seasons and probably more goals for the NT.

Anyway after seeing those raw stats, does the idea that someone might think like that still seem to you batshit crazy? Or there might be a possibility that they are not that far off from one another in that regard?

not just me ask anyone they'll think it's crazy. Is Tevez a better finisher than Raul too? I'm sure Raul's ratio is lower than Tevez' as well. There are many factors.

I really stirred up something with that, ha? :D Easy man, I'm huge DP fan and always wanted him to score as many goals as possible, but pure finishing, clear cut chances I really believe Tevez is slightly better. DP's finishing improved later on in his career, but he could be very wasteful at times.

Raul had like 6-8 months no-goal periods so I thought I'd take a shot :D

That being said, I want Tevez to score as many as possible now just like I did Del Piero.

Let him become Cappocannoniere once and CL top scorer once then we'll compare the two.
