Not only he has been clumsy this season but also totally unfocused. I will say it again and again, there is no harm in moving him to the left temporary, not only we would improve our left flank drastically but also we might improve our central defence as it can't get any worse than it is.
I would be 100% agreed if we had someone, more reliable than Bonucci, to play at CB. Chiellini can't be possibly as bad as DC and Grosso at LB and we would be rid of his clumsiness at CB. I'm not really sure now that we have only Bonucci as the alternative.

With the current Chiellini in CB, it can't be any worse with Bonucci and even Sörensen. However with this move, we would be improving our left flank hugely and it will help cover for Bonucci. Remember, Chiellini was at fault for the goal today and he missed a lot of clearances not to mention his wrong decisions but most of the play came from the left side where Grosso was left put of position.

Anyway, I have analysed the whole situation better in the match thread as it is not entirely a defence problem.

He still does some good things but these stupid errors really need to stop. I think the high intensity game that we play - that we force our opponents to play - doesn't always suit Chiellini. He's not the greatest in terms of touch or calmness on the ball, he's going to have to adapt to how we play with and without the ball.

Until then, he can adapt on the left side.

I wouldn't be against trying that, but I wouldn't start it against Milan. Hopefully a big match like that will force him to regain his focus.

I never thought Chiellini would be the defender I'd be worried about going into a match against Milan. :scared:

If anything, this has to be tried against a big team. Improve the left side 100% and add more security to the middle. Plus Bonucci cannot be worse than the current Chiellini, he just can't be.

If De Ceglie isn't available, I would be in favour of it. If he is, I'd start him and put my faith in Chiellini to up his game.
