IMO doing life is harder than being killed, but I am not against capital punishment. I believe it should be done when there is an apsolute certanty that they've got the right man and if there is no chance that the guilty will be abkle to ever get out of jail. Why waste money for the next 30 or 40 years on his sick ass?

Yeah but killing the murder would just be an escape to all his problems. Its better being dead than having to deal to the whole world knowing what you did, your concience, and the fact that you could have not done it.

This is a good point, however, I think there's more to punishment. In my opinion its purpose is not only to make them suffer, but to protect the other people from them. Once they are killed they aren't a threat anymore. On the other harnd, if they are locked up in jail, they can always escape or be a threat...:undecide:

i just came up with the brilliant solution. sentence a man to death without intentionto kill him. and keep him locked in prison for 10 years waiting to be killed. then you can release him, he wont do crime anymore.

Yeah, but those murders you mentioned - imo they dont qualify to capital punishement.
If I thought about some to punish in this way: only such crimes, which were commited with premeditation, in cruel disgusting way, when criminals treated their victims really bad: tortured them etc.
Only sth like that, but still: I cant say I'm completely yes to that.

Also, jail and the death sentance are not all about punishment, they are also about making an example.

I totally disagree with you DJ, a person is responsible no matter what hgis state of mind was, or if he was drunk or on drugs or insane etc...

If he took drugs, then he was responsible for taking drugs in the first place. If he was drugged by someone else, that's a little worse but still responsible for being in the place at that time I guess.

About life sentence: if there is such thing, without possibilty of going out earlier, there is one very serious danger:
and again, that's the fact, taken from law study in behaving of such people.

Cause if they have life sentence, they are above the law in prison.
Yes, above.
Violence against other prisoners: I sit here and I can do what I want.
Violence against warders: I sit here for killing someone, one more is nothing special.

many of them do what they want, cause no matter what, they will stay in prison till the end of their life: so why not to behave like that?
Some of them commited murders in prison: why not?

So life sentence, without possibility of early parole - that's the huge problem.

So maybe it's better to avoid life sentence?
But again: why to let out people, who commited horrified crimes and they can do that again?

As far - there is no good solution.

Yes and such things should be always aggravating circumstances, NEVER mitigating circumstances.

Cause in this way: everyone would take drugs, kill someone and say: oh well I took some drugs, forgive me now.

And more: what about drunk drivers? If such bastard killed someone - why being drunk should make his responsibility wearker?
