No, I'd bet against that, because Ranieri is going to want to use his first team as soon as he can, so he gets an idea of how well they gel. Cannavaro or Barzagli would be integrals in the starting squad, so they're going to have to be signed a lot sooner, without leaving room for any August antics. If only we happen to get Canna back and had we Mutu instead of Iaquinta, I'd say this squad would have been a scudetto contender, on paper at least.

Mancini blocca cessione di Burdisso alla Juventus
11 07 2007

:weee: thank you mancini:D

if secco pulls this off id say that would be a great move
then we can focus on bringing in one more player within the 10-15 million price range
please let this be true
plus i also read that schuster said pepe and metzelder would form a great center duo....does that mean he will think about offloading canna

Seeming more like a quick fix than a five year plan: it was always going to be something like an Andrade-Canna or a younger Militio-Barzagli pairing. Guess I can live with the CANDRADE option. :D

funny thing is we sold vieira for less than what we supposedly offered for burdisso..right??

Yea, but that's because it was more like a distress sale. We had to offload or we'd be saddled with his wages which were pretty high. Didnt have too many options or buyers in his case.

Old news apparently:

FC JUVENTUS, Found deal with Cannavaro
Posted 29.06 10.04 by Marco Gori - read 425

Fabio Cannavaro is always closer to his old team FC Juventus. The player and the club have found a deal for a 2 year contract at 5 millions Euros per season. Now the italian club must negotiate with Real Madrid.

?!?

If that's how you feel about the Azzurri captain, fine, but do you actually think he's more pathetic than Burdisso? Consider the alternatives, and you'll realise the Burdisso block by Mancini, is a blessing in disguise.
