We can't be sure someone really offered the same money for Buffon.. we know that for the same money Juve sold Zidane.

And yeah I think that for buffon is different ;), but only because for him we wouldn't find a replacement

Gianluigi Buffon

Having somebody like him in your team is like starting off with at least a 20 point advantage and not only for the decisive saves, but because a ‘keeper like Gigi guarantees the whole team. Diehard fans shout at him ‘jump with us’ and he pays tribute, responding the call flying high where nobody can. Throughout his superb season we want to remind of two moments, in the same match: May 8th, against Milan, first saving result and scudetto on Inzaghi headed to goal then, in the end, blocking a header again by Inzaghi low. He gets up holding the ball tight and screaming out louder in a way that, thinking about it now, it’s a scream of joy for the 28th scudetto.

Antonio Chimenti

The ‘perfect second’: Antonio knows he has a wonder before him, but nevertheless he always trained with determination, as if he should play every Sunday. And when he was called in for the Italian Cup he showed how reliable he is.andry Bonnefoi

Back home after his interim at Messina, Landry missed the chance of showing off, but he demonstrated great maturity for his hard work in training and for his serenity in waiting his turn.

Alessandro Birindelli

‘Biri’ is always a valuable player: fast as lightning, with a terrific shot, Alessandro has capability like few others to come in during the game and find pace and position at once. It was just at the beginning of Milan-Juventus’ second half that Birindelli achieved a great objective: 150th appearance in the black & white outfit.

Fabio Cannavaro

His arrival has recreated one of the strongest central defence partnerships: Cannavaro and Thuram, who ever since the Parma stage showed wonders, demonstrated a newly found accordance. Fabio, from the early appearances with Juventus’s shirt, proved to be regenerated by the bianconeri and delivered, one after another, splendid performances, worth framing, making defence impenetrable. And if it wasn’t enough, he scored twice in the championship and once in Champions League

Ciro Ferrara

What would you say about Ciro: he’s a monument, a national glory. He won his eighth scudetto and gathered his 500th appearance in Serie A. Astonishing numbers, with which he closes a wonderful career. In the season he had not many chances to play, but his presence could be felt, a great deal, in the dressing room, where he was a leader and a guide. Thanks Ciro, we’re going to miss you.

Paolo Montero

A player like him is always helpful, because Paolo is a pure breed fighter and when the going gets tough, he never gives up. As in this season, every time he’s been called in, he brought value. He displays his fifth scudetto in nine years at Juventus.

Gianluca Pessotto

‘Pesso’ starts softly because of a physical problem requiring a little time to recover from. Himself, a professional like no other, doesn’t make a fuss of it, but continues to work hard and, when his time comes, he’s ready to become a centrepiece. He plays some of the key games quite perfectly, deserving public praise of his manager who knows he can always rely on him. He’s a tactically smart player, capable, because of this, of covering many positions and playing either wing, with the same excellent results.

Lilian Thuram

Capello moves him back to his favourite position of central defender over again, back together with old friend Cannavaro, with whom he agrees at a glance, and Lilian rejuvenates. Not that the weight of years was unbearable, on the contrary Thuram seen throughout the season looked like a youngster. A youngster though, holding a top career’s experience and the virtues of a solid champion.

Gianluca Zambrotta

He’s one of Capello’s most employed men, but ‘Zambro’s fuel is never short. Gianluca crunches kilometres over the wings with the turbo on, lights a direction arrow, passes opponents and delivers remarkable balls to the forwards, but when defence needs a hand, he never gives in.

Jonathan Zebina

A resourceful athlete, with a skill as central defender, but also to play wings with great results. Fabio Capello, who dealt with him for four years in Rome and knows him well, utilizes him on the right and Jonathan fits position at once, becoming a centrepiece in the defence chess board.

Antonio Giraudo

“It is a very important win that makes us very happy and that has come after a hard time: Doctor Umberto Agnelli passed away one year ago, he had been our guide for years. With him, we carried on a project, we chose the technical staff, the very Capello… we missed him a lot and we dedicate this victory to him.”

Luciano Moggi

“It’s been a deserved success, achieved at the end of a beautiful championship. We missed, alternately, important players such as Nedved, Trezeguet, Del Piero, Zebina, Emerson but those who replaced them did a fantastic job, proving how strong our roster is.”

Roberto Bettega

“As far as I’m concerned, I’d like to dedicate this title to Doctor Umberto Agnelli; this is the Juventus he would have wanted. I want to dedicate the win to our supporters as well, who are numerous, warm and must celebrate with us.”

Fabio Capello

“This team has shown humility, determination and the will to go on until the end. We were caught on top of the table by Milan twice and as many times we came on again and I think this is most positive fact. The most decisive moment in the championship? The match against Lazio in Rome, when we won in spite of our difficulties. Milan have been great opponents, a fantastic team that has never given up, but our strength has been the group: those who have been called in as substitutes proved all of their worth.”

Alessandro Del Piero

“Last year I was forced out of the pitch for four months due to an injury: I only wished I could recover to get back to training with continuity, luckily everything went fine and it has been a good season, with a great final. There is not only one maker of this success: we won thanks to the close work between the staff and the players.”

Ciro Ferrara

“I’m happy about this win, which comes at the end of a long but exciting season. It’s my eight scudetto, a good target. What will I do next year? Well, I have had fun so far now it’s time to start working.”

Zlatan Ibrahimovic

“My first scudetto is a great satisfaction. It has been a great championship, the whole team has played well. On a personal level, I’m satisfied with my performance and the goals I’ve scored but I know I can do better.”

David Trezeguet

“It’s been a difficult year for me, due to all the injuries, but I’m happy I scored against Milan in the most crucial match. It’s been a much struggled season, and it has been deservedly won by the group and by our coach. Coach Capello uses to win wherever he goes and he proved it here once again; we get along very well. I’m happy about the scudetto but I hope I’ll be luckier next year and avoid injuries.”

First under the presidency of Vittorio Chiusano, then under that of Franzo Grande Stevens, Roberto Bettega, Antonio Giraudo and Luciano Moggi, respectively Vice President, Chief Executive and Director General, they conquered an outstanding number of trophies: 6 Scudetti, 1 Champions League, 1 Intercontinental Cup, 1 Coppa Italia, 4 Supercoppa Italiana, 1 Uefa Supercup.

A model management that gave the Agnellis and the millions of supporters in the world much satisfaction. Successful results marked first by Marcello Lippi and now by Fabio Capello.

The club that won the highest number of Scudetti is a solid company, a perfect machine, which is managed with constant committment and dedication by the three managers, to whom it must added Commercial Director Romy Gai. A lot of wins, amazing targets and ambitious plans. To keep on winning, always!

Juventus (1949/50, 1951/52, 2004/05) and one time (1946/47) it reached second place. A further curiosity comes from the fact that in all three championships won by Juventus, A.C.Milan always finished second. Here’s the final table of the past editions:

1949/50
Juventus points 62
Milan 57

1951/52
Juventus points 60
Milan 53

Juventus’s race started on September, 12th in Brescia. The Bianconeri thrashed the ‘rondinelle’ with a clean 3-0 and made display of an excellent teamwork between new-comers and veteran players. Supporters got to know a lad named Zlatan Ibrahimovic who gave proof of his worth right away, dribbling two defenders and beating Castellazzi with the 3-0 goal.

The defence, who showed to be solid from the very beginning, did not concede one thing to the opponents also in the second and third matchdays; the attack looked spectacular and hit the target twice against Atalanta and three times against Sampdoria.

Juventus conceded the first goal only on the fourth matchday: at Delle Alpi, Palermo took the lead in the first half when Zaccardo took advantage of a still ball and then their defence kept guard of the result until the end of the first half. At the beginning of the second half, Ibrahimovic scored the draw and the Bianconeri moved forward to attack looking for the winning goal but the Sicilian defence finally saved the 1-1 result.

Juventus got back on winning track at Udine. However the day was far from being lucky: Trezeguet injured his shoulder after a clash with an opponent and he would have to undergo surgery to resolve the subluxation. David left the playground at the beginning of the first half and made way to Zalayeta, who sorted the match out thanks to a masterful header.

The Uruguayan turned out to be a crucial player for Capello and scored also during the following match they won against Messina.

After the away match at Siena, where Juventus easily passed thanks to two goals by Del Piero and one by Camoranesi, Roma arrived at the Delle Alpi.

It was the eighth matchday and the game was played in the midweek. For the Bianconeri, that was the first time against one of the top clubs in the championship. It was a unordinary match, as coach Capello, Emerson and Zebina would meet their former team for the first time; moreover, they used to be important for the Giallorossi, so much that without them Roma seemed to be definitely weaker.

Juventus beated the all-time rivals by an unquestionable 2-0, sealed by Del Piero and Zalayeta.

Marcelo repeated himself the following Sunday in Turin, when he was the first to score against Chievo, then followed by Nedved and Ibrahimovic.

Juventus’s race was first hindered on the tenth matchday, during the Saturday early match; the match against Reggina had been born under an unlucky star, eventually decided by single episodes. The Calabria-based team took the lead on their first attack: Cannavaro returned the ball from the edge of box but the ball hit Colucci and soared, flying incredibly back down behind Buffon. Ibrahimovic took the draw one minute later but Reggina scored again on a free kick. Goals disallowed for Ibrahimovic and Kapo made the first defeat of the season even more bitter.

Anyway, redemption was behind the corner: Juventus achieved two consecutive victories against Fiorentina and Lecce, both by 1-0, and went to San Siro on the 13th matchday capable of making an impression against Inter.

It was a one-way match for more than an hour, with the Bianconeri dominating the game with a spectacular play, with scores by Zalayeta and Ibrahimovic.

It was when it seemed to be over that the double advantage caused the Bianconeri a loss of determination which, along with the entry of Bobo Vieri for Inter, helped the other side fight back to earn draw 15 minutes later, with goals first by Vieri then by Adriano.
