Zebina Tells Referees: Stop This Massacre

Jonathan Zebina has sensationally declared that Juventus have been massacred by the referees this season.

The Bianconeri have had a plethora of officiating errors go against them, and indeed last month the Gazzetta dello Sport printed a revised table of where all the Serie A teams would be if no mistakes had been made.

Juve topped the table, having lost 12 points to rivals Inter due to errors. Since this report there was the controversial defeat to Reggina, which led the Bianconeri to write an open letter of complaint to the Italian Football Federation.

"I am saying only that we must stop this massacre, because it is a massacre,” blasted Zebina.

“What has happened to Juventus this year should not be repeated: we must find a solution."

Zebina also commented on Juve’s 3-2 defeat to Fiorentina last weekend, and rejects observations that the team is in crisis, having picked up just one point in three games.

"I think there has been too much drama. I do not see any crisis,” the Frenchman told Sky Italia.

“I see only a team that have made extraordinary strides forward. The game with Fiorentina has to be a lesson, we must understand what is wrong and give a strong response on Sunday at Genoa.

"I would be happy if the standings were as so at the end of the championship.

“In my opinion, if we finish third or fourth this season it would be a success because Juventus are coming from Serie B and we must always remember that because we tend to forget."

Finally Zebina stated that he was very confident that Juve would qualify for next season’s Champions League.

"The qualification into the Champions League, to tell the truth, I do not worry. It will not be a problem," he concluded.

Inter President Massimo Moratti has defended the image of the club ahead of their centenary on Sunday.

The Nerazzurri have been accused of benefiting from a series of dubious refereeing decisions this season.

Against Parma in January, Inter were behind for most of the game only to be awarded a debatable penalty in the closing minutes which they converted before netting the winner in added time.

That decision sparked outrage, leading many to compare Moratti's Inter to the Juventus of Luciano Moggi.

“Inter are known throughout the world as a prestigious team of Milan, not only for what they have won but because they have never had any problems with the law,” insisted Moratti.

“With me, I have always had people who have followed correct behaviour without ever being sly, cutting corners or influencing referees.

“The shame of having to defend yourself in front of deplorable circumstances is an unpleasant thing in the history of any club.”

Moratti's comments were clearly aimed at Juventus, as Zdenek Grygera and Jonathan Zebina have recently complained about the 'prejudicial' treatment received by Juve from referees.

The Turin giants sent an open letter to the Italian FA last week complaining that they were being made to pay for their past misdemeanours.

Juve were relegated to Serie B for the first time in their history in 2006 after their former director general Moggi was alleged to have leaned on match officials to favour the Corso Galileo Ferraris club.

“That to us has never happened so far,” ranted Moratti. “We have never had to drop down to Serie B.”

I suppose the accounting fraud, passport fraud, the doping/match fixing from the Herrera era, and the Kallon steroid case don't really count. How soon people forget that when drug tests were introduced the first team to get caught were Inter.

That's what they say because they think we are stupid. Never relegated? Sure according to their official website they were never relegated but that's because they skipped the 1922 season in their history section.

Inter came in dead last and were relegated. They didn't play a game in Serie B the next season because over the summer the FIGC decided to send 3rd last Venezia to Serie B instead of Inter. I believe they had 11 points.

1909 is an interesting year.
Why ?
Because there were also divisions. Inter played in Lombardian division, together with Milan and U.S Milanese, and Inter finished last placed in this division.
But Inter wasn't relegated to lower division. They were last placed and weren't relegated because there were no lower divisions. That was it, those were the Italian clubs, and they couldn't get relegated.

In season 1921/22 Inter ended dead last in group B of Northern league. There were 12 teams in this league and they ended last placed. But they weren't relegated again, because , like before, there wasn't a place where they could have been relegated.
