Serie A is becoming a joke with time passing...Here are some recent comments that indicate how Italy is shooting itself in the foot:

Collina: "I said nothing to Tagliavento. The mistake was glaring and he was sorry about it ... It was hard to call, but according to the rules it was not a penalty."

Cesare Gussoni, the president of the Association of referees (AIA): "someone could ask that the game be repeated if a referee admits a mistake."

Zambrotta: "In Spain there are not that many discussions. (In Italy) we go on and on with chatter."

Luca Toni: "If you watch the Bundesliga, you'll understand. Bayern has had a single spot kick awarded. But (in Germany) there are less polemics. You don't spend the week watching slow motions. It's a different culture."
so sad that a league with such prestige is like this i only hope it will return to what it should be

Ferrara blasts Moratti claims Wednesday 6 February, 2008

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Juventus legend Ciro Ferrara has slammed Inter President Massimo Moratti for his claims that the 2002 Scudetto was won unfairly.

The Calciopoli scandal may have been consigned to the annals of history, but Moratti believes that Juve used underhand tactics to triumph in 2002.

His claims relate to May 5 when Inter needed to beat Lazio away to win the title, but they lost 4-2 at allowed the Old Lady to clinch the silverware with a 2-0 win over Udinese.

“Without that crew of crooks we would have won the League in 2001-02,” Moratti said earlier in the week, relating to the Juve triade of Luciano Moggi, Antonio Giraudo and Roberto Bettega.

However, Ferrara, who was playing that day, has struck back at the Inter chief.

“Moratti knows how to lose, but he hasn’t learned how to win yet,” he bellowed.

“All I say to him is if you have any evidence then show us, but otherwise don’t say anything.

“This story of the Scudetto in Udine is old news, but all of the Inter players know very well what happened.

“I have spoken to them in private and there have never been any problems. We sweated for that title on the pitch,” he concluded

As usual, Moratti wailing about Juventus winning the 2002 scedutto by unfair means. We have proven ourselves time and time again who is superior on the pitch and don't need to resort to underhanded tactics to get what we wanted compared to someone who claimed that his hands are clean......

I knew the Gazzetta was screwing with the numbers. Adiconsum and Make Tailored Advertizing released the REAL numbers and as suspected Juventus should be runaway leaders having been docked 13 points (not 7 like Moratti's men will tell you) and Milan have been docked 7 and not 9. Inter in any case are still getting the most favors. Here's the link to the Adiconsum article: http://canali.libero.it/affaritaliani/sport/campionatointervinceromaafonda030208.htm

Needless to say that 52% of the games of been altered by errors which is beating the record established last year (41.3%).

Legrottaglie: Moratti Causing Hatred Between Fans

Nicola Legrottaglie has followed Giovanni Cobolli Gigli and Ciro Ferrara in blasting Inter President Massimo Moratti for his allegations that Juventus cheated to win the Scudetto in 2002.

Moratti said on Sunday that “without that crew of crooks we would have won the championship in 2001/02", referring to the former Juventus triade of Luciano Moggi, Antonio Giraudo and Roberto Bettega.

Juve President Giovanni Cobolli Gigli hit out at Moratti for his remarks yesterday and this was followed by Ciro Ferrara earlier today, who challenged the Inter owner to display the evidence or keep quiet.

Legrottaglie has now added his voice to the controversy by saying that Moratti is just creating unnecessary hatred between Inter and Juventus supporters.

"It’s always the same old speeches. We talk about improving the game, then statements like this are made that lead to verbal confrontation and generate animosity between the club’s football fans."

Legrottaglie added that Juventus won the Scudetto in 2002 because they were the stronger team, and that the best club’s are always disliked.

"Unfortunately there is so much ambiguity, but the truth is that Juve were unbeatable at that time, and when a team wins it is always normal for there to be some controversy.

Inter now happen to be the most hated, because they are the team to beat, just like Juve were five years ago,” he concluded.

What about Burke? The point it questioning anybody's affiliation or love for Juventus is stupid and too many people do that because you dont share their blind hatred for a FOOTBALL team
