I defended Juve, says Moggi Monday 21 December, 2009

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Disgraced former director Luciano Moggi insists he has been the only person to defend Juventus since the 2006 Calciopoli scandal.

The spotlight has returned on events of three years ago after Antonio Giraudo, a former member of the so-called Juventus triad, was handed a three-year jail sentence for sporting fraud and conspiracy to commit a crime.

A recent docu-drama called 'Operation Off-side' has also dramatised the events immediately after the Calciopoli scandal such as Moggi's interrogation in which he is seen to be crying.

Speaking to Radio Erre 2, Moggi said: “Giraudo's sentencing is not a condemnation. It's a sentence in the first degree, but in substance there is the chance to appeal.

“My position isn't actually worsened by the witness testimony at the trial in Naples… There are 50 witnesses for the defence to listen to and I believe that things will go quite well.

“It's enough to think that of the 50 witness brought by the prosecution, 45 ended up being in our favour. If you listen to the wiretaps well enough it's clear they regard other teams and not Juve: there is not a wiretap in which we ask a referee to 'help me!'

“It was Giraudo's decision, mistaken in my opinion, to take a fast-track trial, as he decided to go to London while I stayed here to fight to defend myself and above all Juventus, seeing that no one else defended the club.

“I only stayed to defend Juve,” he concluded.
BRING MOGGI BACK, PRONTO !!!

He is the BEST thing that could happen to this team now......:flag1:

Cellino never trusted referee draw
Tuesday 22 December, 2009
Speaking at the Calciopoli trial in Naples, Cagliari President Massimo Cellino revealed he never had any faith in the credibility of the referee draw.

Every week during the season until after 2006, referees would be designated by way of a draw presided over by Paolo Bergamo and Pierluigi Pairetto.

Luciano Moggi, the disgraced former Juventus director, was very close to the pair and would often call them and predict the referees who would be designated for the upcoming matches.

“I think the draw was rigged. I never believed in the draw,” Cellino said during his eagerly awaited testimony.

He had been fined €250,000 for not showing up when previously called to the witness box.

“Yes, there was a draw but you have seen what kind of a draw it was,” he explained, referring to one particular incident when “they sent” Palanca to referee a match between Messina and Venezia.

The Calciopoli trial has really started to gather steam nearly three years after its inauguration.

Earlier this month, Antonio Giraudo, a former Juventus director and member of Moggi's infamous 'Triad', was sentenced to a three-year jail term for sporting fraud and conspiracy to commit a crime.

He chose to have a fast-track trial in contrast to Moggi who is still defending his innocence.

It was made clear by the judge that it wasn't. You had many journalist present when it was done so I'm sure one of them would have said something if it looked fishy. The coughing(also happened the other day for the CL) shit brought up last time was laughable.

Luciano Moggi: Inter Also Cheated In Calciopoli

The former Juve man claims Inter showed their hand in Calciopoli...
21-Dec-2009 4:00:23 PM

Luciano Moggi

Former Juventus director Luciano Moggi has hit back at Inter chief executive Ernesto Paolillo after his Calciopoli comments.

Last week, Paolillo spoke about the sentences that were handed out to a number of people including Antonio Giraudo, the former Juventus director. He said the result of the trial in Naples, where Giraudo was given a three year jail term, explained Juve's dominance over Inter pre-Calciopoli.

"The sentence shows that we lost many Scudetti in strange ways and it shows that what used to be said is true," Paolillo told the press last week.

Moggi has now responded to the Nerazzurri. He claims Inter also played a part in the 2006 scandal after Rosario Coppola claimed the club called up referees and linesman in relation to the Ivan Cordoba incident.

"These people [Paolillo] speak out while knowing what they are saying, but the reality is going against them," Moggi told Radio Erre.

"Two weeks ago the linesman Coppola showed how Inter pressured people so that Cordoba didn't receive a ban. Pressuring means making phone calls, calls that Inter did a number of times - this was also confirmed by former referee designators.

"It's just a shame that these phone calls just disappeared, of course. Telecom Italia was not owned by Juventus, but by Inter.

"And lets not speak about Guido Rossi. He took away Juventus' Scudetti and gave them to Inter. Then what does he do? Goes to work for FIAT. What more can I say?

"I am the only one who has been defending Juventus."

Not strange that the ultras love this man:)

When people insult Juventus as cheaters, I only laugh...In my mind I say if only they knew....I don't defend the scandalous acts by Moggi, I just laugh because if you look at our players in that era you would laugh too.

There was only one way to stop Juve and it was Calciopoli. Look at the world cup in 2006! 10 of the players was from Juventus + Zlatan, Nedved, Trezeguet.. If It wasn't for this Inter would still be down in the dirt. They couldn't stand it anymore so they had to do something

I don't think Moggi and Giraudo did anything worse than the other big club. They just loved Juve and did all they could to make them win..What a terrible time they must have had in 2006 when this came up.

Lets's hope Moggi will be cleared of all the charges! Shame on our club for not defending themselfes. I can still not believe why they accepted everything. It's the same now also with the fine for insulting Balotelli every match. Why accept the fine every time?? Its like "Look at the new Juve, We are so nice"

I think you have understood the situation quite good. But about why Juventus didnt go trough with TAR has alot to do with being blackmailed by FIGC and FIFA. Now that's a fact. Juventus as a company would have lost more financially and I think the same amount of players would have gone. Think about it. Both international football and club football in italy would have stopped. They really didnt have any choice, and that's why Moggi and Co resigned so they could go trough with it on their own without affecting the club.

Farsopoli was a nasty thing. Unfair and nasty.

agree on above points, and it doesnt take an idiot to realize that both Inter and Milan made many phone calls as well for the same purposes....is it fair that Juve are the only ones punished ?? Does this mean that anyone was "cheating" ??

The most underhanded events in this whole Calciopoli fiasco were committed by Guido Rossi with Telecom Italia at the behest of Moratti

The most imbecilic decisions came from our new board who wouldnt defend the club, but were more than willing to accept punishment against charges that were questionable at best...Gigli is a piece of shit, and BLANK, the fucking frog, is no fucking better

Anyone else remember the comments "we really deserved to be sent down to Serie C ", and who said it ???

FORZA MOGGI, please come back !!!!

The role the federation had in preventing Juventus from defending themselves is what bothers me most. They didn't seem to have a problem choosing "cheats" for the Azzurri squad back in the 2006-2007 season, and it was the same federation that declared Inter 2005-2006 Serie A champions. The FIGC and anything that sports this logo can fuck right off. Here's to a fantastic trip in South Africa. :malt:

Do anybody know how the referee draw procedure? Is it like UEFA CL draw or WC draw that use a ball in a jar then take one of it and the name on the ball become the decision? Put the name of the referee that eligible to become referee in certain match (not related by his region) and then you take one and then it become the referee of the match. If the draw is like this, how can Moggi designated the referee for certain match?
