This is a massive issue here in Aus, I just can't fathom how one can ban another from wearing something...I am of course against it if it is being forced upon a woman, but if it is her choice she should be able to. What pisses me off more is the fact that they hide this want to ban Burqa's behind a reason that makes no sense, that reason being security. It makes no sense at all, Islamaphobia and basic ignorance are widespread in these parts though.
Top post.

No sane human would genuinely feel like covering their face. Your face is one of every humans' uniqueness. Hiding it robs you of your identity. I can't accept that regardless of whether it was voluntary or forced.
Who are you to question a human's sanity based on what he/she wears? And really sheik, you think it's a human's face that makes one unique

You're getting very aggressive with your opinions recently.

Sheik, you share porn with members on Juventuz. That means you approve of girls that strip & fuck on camera for money. Yet you think it's a crime against humanity for a girl to chose to cover her face. I can't take you seriously as a champion of womens rights.
You may not, but many of us do

That's a good question, Ze. I'll think of a good answer overnight and reply tomorrow.

As for uniqueness, read that sentence again. I said it is ONE OF humans uniqueness. Just like their body, their skills and their personality. But it's obvious for anyone that the first way you remember a person is by their face. I can't stress the importance facial recognition plays in our daily lives.

Thanks for noticing that. :)

I'm not necessarily against women's decision to cover her face, but I'm against a God that gives so much importance to a persons looks. Judging someone by what they wear is something that is human, and not divine. Like I said in another thread, someone as divine as God does not need such means to judge someone's faith. He can simply do by reading their mind, or spying on people with his omnipresence while they're praying or worshipping him in their room. IMO, judging by appearance is not something that a supreme God would do. If I was God, I wouldn't do it. I'm just saying that these stupid rules are made by men in Gods name.

How can u possibly know that?

In india maximum college/uni girls are wearing scarfs showing nothing but eyes, regardless of the religion....and how can you "not accept that regardless of whether it was voluntary..." when you accept eating one kind of meat and not another? [ and m not saying your reason behind that is your religion]

Touche. Then by all means let her cover her face and rely on those other unique specs of a human being to identify that burqa covered friend/colleague of yours ;)

No doubt. But if it's the person's decision not to show that then who am I to oblige him to do such a thing?

So if the burqa is not forced upon the female, you would force her not to wear it. Ya, you're better than them.
You're missing the point. I'm not attacking the issue of forcing someone to wear a burqa, but I'm attacking the reason for wearing one. One of the reasons women choose to wear it is to show their faith\loyalty\submission\whatever to God. And I'm saying it's stupid to believe that wearing a burqa is a good way of showing it. I'm saying wearing it to please God is not a warranted reason. Other than God, I haven't seen a good reason for someone to wear it too. I hardly doubt that a burqa would be a pretty fashionable thing to wear had Islam not popularized it.

If there really is a good reason other than God to wear a burqa, I'm yet to hear it.

Cos I do not know any girl other than a Muslim who wears a burqa or any piece of cloth that covers their face as a daily attire. I do not know of any non-Muslim girl who has the choice of wearing or not wearing one, but still chose to wear it. Fine, I admit that the word "sane" was not the right word to use there, but you get my point.

Well if that is so easy, then why don't you live your life with a burqa on your face and identify yourself with your hard chest, bulging biceps and that long and shiny reproductive organ of yours?

I'll tell you why. Cos it's not what humans generally do. If they did, then every woman on this earth would do it. No, if indeed we could do that, then the intelligent designer would not make our head so different and unique from one another, let alone create a head on the first place.
No doubt. But if it's the person's decision not to show that then who am I to oblige him to do such a thing?
Then I'm interested in knowing the reason for making that decision. If they have a good reason, then fine. If not, then I'll try to reason with them and make them realize if their reason is really warranted or not. I'd rather try to convince them than force it upon them like a fuckin' dictator.

And about the question regarding what I think about Snoop, I think he's equivalent to a headless horseman. :D

So just because it's not that famous or general to do such a thing then that automatically makes it inhuman and wrong? WTF dude

Good for you then.

They don't do it to show their faith, they do it out of their faith that doing such a thing pleases God and at the same time preserve their body for whom they wish to share with. Not for everyone to see. That's what I usually here from Burq'ed woman.

And really Sheik, how the hell would you expect it not to strike you as odd when you don't believe in God in the first place. Naturally then, you won't fully get why they do it and to you it would always look stupid. Simply because you don't share the same faith.

Then what is your justification other than God?
Why don't men wear burqas?
Cos the men go around killing the infidels to show their faith in God. Also, maybe the Qur'an doesn't ask the men to wear one either.
